Cep is minorly sick in this thread; although, just for the sake of saying so, her condition will worsen in a few days.

Something was amiss; she could feel it even now, as awareness of the world around her slowly began to slip away until she was left a mere shell with a jumbled thought process. It wasn't as if the problem itself was making her so discombobulated and empty - at least not yet; she was unsure of whether this was the peak of it - bur rather, it was the confusion as to what had caused this to occur. Up until this point, today had been a normal day - she had wandered around a bit, caught a rabbit for herself, and topped the small meal off with a refreshing drink of water. That had been the morning, however, and now evening was quickly beginning to take over as the afternoon threw down its gauntlet. She couldn't imagine how any of those things could have caused her to fall ill - or was she sick at all? Perhaps she was dehydrated...no, that was impossible; she hadn't even gone a day without water yet, let alone a few days to a week. Even now, at the very beginning of the problems, she could easily confirm that something was seriously wrong. This wasn't good...not at all. Obviously, being sick was never good, but it had been quite a while since she had felt so terrible.

It suddenly struck her that perhaps it was about time to find a place to rest. The world almost seemed to be spinning, as if trying to baffle her, daring her to take too large and too brave of a step forward, which would only result in a prompt tumble to the ground. Not only that; she also felt as if she was about to throw up. Yes, indeed, this was definitely a time to go to sleep for a few hours or perhaps even the entire night. Suddenly, as she began her search for a place to lie down, the world spun one last time and she knew no more. Upon awakening, she was not even sure of how long it had been since she had lost consciousness, although she assumed that it hadn't been much more than forty-five minutes, judging by the pinkish-orange evening sky. Things were getting worse, indeed.

G'day! I thought I'd stick Rio in here (he aint been up to much, he's kinda boring) so I hope you don't mind!

I can see inside you

Something was differant. Much too differant for Rio not to miss. He groaned with confusion, feeling the tenseness in the atmosphere as he lay still amoungst the grasses, gazing up at a magnificently colored heaven, it's pink stratus drifting innocently in neat streaks through a sea of warm orange. 'twas a very beautiful sight, but Rio couldn't enjoy it for feeling something was wrong. Looking down at his own white paws, the silvern youth heaved a shakey sigh. Perhaps he was just tired from today's happenings. Niish's injury, Rio's accusation of Green being the reason why his own father had abandoned him. Growling to himself in confusion and hatred of the huge white wolf, the blue-eyed lupin dropped his head to rest it upon an outstreached forelimb, and pull one under his chest. His tail wrapped loosely around a small hind, and for the first time since arriving at the Fields, Rio shed his first tear of loneliness and neglect.

The sickness is rising

He missed his former home, his former packmates, even his siblings! But above all, Rio missed his mom and dad. Because he adored them so much, he was blind to Reivan's lack of love for him, but he was at ease believing that the golden-eyed Beta did love him. Sorrowfully, he stifled a quiet sob and pulled his paw from under him to slip it over his snout, blocking his tears from the world. His heart blead with misery, and after a good fifteen minutes of seemingly unstoppable tears, the young Delta rose his front, leaving himself sitting back on his haunches. Tilting his crown back, he choked a mournful howl through tears. He closed his eyes and flung himself back down, until he scented something new. Quickly standing, his face damp with tears, Rio looked around, convinced he was being watched.

Don't try to deny what you feel

'ey! He spat, pivoting to search behind him I know joor out thurr! The pup groaned his disapproval, and, after a few moments, no one answered. He stood stock, trembling and his limbs unable to move. Eventually, he bolted from his position and into the trees. He looked over his shoulder behind him, and felt himself tumble over something. With a quick and loud Oof! he landed on his chin and, cutting the delicate skin around it, he ignored the pain. Raising stiffly, he looked round to stare at the creature he'd tumbled over. Raising his brows and blinking with curiosity, he stepped gingerly toward the raven female, dropping his nose to sniff her pelt. It was her he had scented, and he gave a shakey sigh of relief. His chest still heaved from his running, and his blue eyes were wide and dull. He sat back, watching the wolf in her state. Something wasn't right, he could feel it in his bones.

Will you give in to me?

Wassa you name? he asked calmly, drifting his gaze over her frame. is joo alright? he gave a quiet whine of concern, leaning foward to run a tender lick over the Zeta's ear and nuzzling her muzzle. It had always been in the youth's nature to care, and he awaited patiently for the wolf's reply.

get up, c'mon get down with the sickness. user posted image

The day was perfect, according to Donabi. She had woken up feeling energized, alive. It was similar to how she had felt that first day of being a field member, the day 'Cep had taken her of a grand tour of the fields. However, being in a pack, a big fat loving pack, had changed her. That day, it seemed like so long ago now, she had been a bouncing bubble of hyperactive words. She was still happy, and sometimes hyperactive if egged on, but the word thing. It had slowly died. She tried her best to say only what needed to be said now, and she felt good about it. Changed in a lovely way.

She hadn't been doing much through the course of the day. She had an itch to go visit Morning Glory Cascades, but the slight heat of the day had convinced her not to take the journey and rather to just lap up water from one of the smaller, nearby sources. That, along at picking at a minute bunny, had been the excitements of her day. Now, as she meandered along through her packlands, the sun began to sink slowly, creating a splash of color to cascade along the sky. Donabi sat back for a moment to take it all in, the colors putting on a show for her. However, she was distracted rather quickly by what sounded like nonsense words, behind a hill. Along with it, came the scent of blood. Donabi perked to attention, it could be one of two things. Prey that had been previously wounded but not killed - she took another sniff to check on this - no, it wasn't the scent of prey. It was Deception! And someone else. She trotted off, leaving her precious sunset to do its things while she hunted down her packmates.

A frenzy of worry attacked Donabi as she searched. If a packmate was bleeding, hurt, or sick she'd go crazy trying to help them. But since her medical knowledge was basically non-existant, she would be of no help. It was while she was thinking of how useless she'd be when she spotted them - Deception laying down in the grass, and a pup situated next to her. Donabi whimpered softly as she noticed the pup's cut chin. "Oh gosh, you're hurt!" She exclaimed to the pup, quite dumbly. Duh, he was hurt. His chin was bleeding. Gaze flickered to Cep, to see if she was going to do anything. But she lay in the grass, something different about her. Donabi lowered herself down, and asked, "Hey Cep. Are you feeling okay?"

She attempted to force her eyes to stay open, even though their lids threatened to close again and shove her into yet another state of unconsciousness. Confusion and stress still existed within her mind, but for the most part, they had been replaced by utter fear. There was nothing to be baffled about anymore, because she knew something was wrong with her, and she knew that it was getting worse. That had been quickly settled. As for the stress, her blackout - or, more accurately, the slumber that it had induced - had completely wiped her mind of more complicated emotions. She was appalled as she suddenly realized that she had temporarily forgotten why she was here in the first place. Now it was starting to come back to her - she had just been walking, and feeling bad. The walking part was normal, as it was what she did in her spare time more or less everyday (And, considering the fact that it was a wolf's only major method of transportation, what she did in the time that wasn't spare). Unfortunately, the feeling of illness was completely abnormal. Deception hadn't been seriously ill for more than half a year. That only added on to the impression that something was wrong. Once again, she attempted to find something to trace the sudden bout of sickness back to, but she failed to think of anything plausible. Her eyes widened in fear as the thought of rabies struck her; but then she remembered that her prey-rabbit earlier today hadn't shown any signs of it. This was downright mysterious.

The obsidian female sniffed the air delicately as the scent of blood reached her nostrils, trying to quickly figure out where it was coming from. It was mingled with animal scent, and she was quickly able to detect more accurate details - another wolf was approaching her. It was then that she managed to trace it back to a howl that she had heard a few minutes ago. Her steadily drooping eyelids flew open, and she attempted to sit up, to no avail. She slid back down to the ground just as quickly as she had arisen. Thankfully, there wasn't much of a need to look around, as the bearer of the scent soon approached her. He was an unfamiliar pup with a dark pelt, and since she hadn't seen him at the recent meeting, Cep assumed he was fairly new.

Her eyes widened again in surprise as she felt him tumbling right over her. She hadn't noticed his injury, as she was distracted by his inquiry as to what her name was and to whether she was alright. "Call me Cep," she said groggily, "Well, I may not be hurt physically, but I'm...I'm sick, I think." It was then that she saw a vaguely familiar-looking female approaching; and the newcomer proceeded to greet them and ask the dark female if she felt okay. "Oh, hi, Donabi," she said, attempting to sound casual, "Feeling...okay...I'll be honest and say no. It's some sort of illness..." Her words drifted off into nothingness as her supply of things to say ran out.

sit back, relax
Mind if Indris jumps in? He needs to meet his pack-mates and play doctor for awhile. :D Plus I want a thread with each of you and this opportunity is too much to pass up.

sit back, relapse again
Half-awake, the blackbird wolf swung his head up and snapped at the fly who—in spite of the risk posed to life and miniscule limb—continued to attempt an emergency landing on his nose. He blew it away from between pursed lips and sighed, struggling to his lanky legs. Disquiet dwelled in his heart of late, and not just because of what he’d done with Vrash. Don’t start that again, Indris thought, pushing all thoughts of the Russian man (no matter how wonderful) toward the closet of his mind. Intending on a brisk border patrol, he loped for the edge of the Fields. As he walked the Beta was struck by how beautiful the setting sun’s light made his newfound home, but presently he was struck by a sight of another kind.

Deception lay in the grass new far from him, muttering something about sickness. Beside him crouched a pup he did not recognize and Donabi, whom he knew was no Medic and therefore unfit to handle the situation (though she was an excellent hunter, Indy knew from experience). “What’s this, then?” he asked, sidling fluidly up to the group, his tones casual to keep down any panic that might have been fighting to the surface before his arrival. Cool blue eyes swept over the scene in seconds, halting their focus on the tawny female. “Tend to the kid, would you?” came his orders, not unkindly; he’d noticed the pup’s cut chin. Speaking of… “What’s your name, anyway? I’m Indy.” Instinctively he offered the silvery boy a crooked smile, but his mind was on Deception and the Lonán wolf wasted no time in turning his attentions back to her.

“What’s the matter, Cep? When did this start, and how have you been feeling lately? I’m no master of herbs, but perhaps, if I can diagnose you, Rain or Radar can find whatever medicines you need.” It was the best he could do, but at least it was something. Indris valued his veteran huntress and was not about to sit idly by while she suffered, even if he could do nothing more than tell the shadowed Zeta what was wrong with her.

EEEEP! 'tis Indris! Indris so totally rawks, there's just something about him that makes me smile. =D He's an awesome doode, lol
and zomigod, 'cep! I just realised you signature..'TIS INCUBUS! I luffles Incubus, 'specially "A Certain Shade Of Green"! -admires-

...'Cep, he repeated, trying out her name and smiling at her gently, in high hopes of perhaps comforting her like he had done with Niish I'm Rio. The tear-stained pup remained settled upon legnthy haunches, his head hanging and shoulders hunched as his chest continued to heave from his little scare before and his flee. Rio's nerves were shattered from today's happenings, and, when he'd settled his gaze upon the sick packmate, it worried him all the more. he gave a quiet whimper, and leaned forth a little to lick at Deception's muzzle worridly. he knew there was nothing he could do for her in her state of illness, and his lick was just a simple reminder that he cared.

He'd forgotten of his tears, and how his cheeks and eyes were still damp from those earlier. Pushing his weight back again, he sighed quietly and, with his soft, youthened vocal, he offered his tender words I gets help, okay? He stood gracefully, took a long moment to stare at 'Cep's form before he turned, raising his gaze to meet that of another female. He gave a quick gasp, unaware of her presance until now, and braced his fores and dropped his head to gaze curiously up at her. When he trusted himself to believe she meant no harm, Rio exhaled shakily and lifted his crown to blink at Donabi curiously. He watched her continue to approach the duo, and Rio gave a whine of worry to her. 'Cep needs help, I wa- "Oh gosh, you're hurt!" Uhh..heh?

His chin! Now that he remembered it, it stung painfully, and he closed his eyes and cringed, slipping his tongue over his lower lip to taste his own blood. He whimpered miserabley, and looking up at Donabi for some sort of reassurance the puppy rose a forelimb to swipe away the scarlet liquid. I'm not hurt that much. but he lied. It stung, and the irritation wouldn't leave. He forced a crooked smile at Donabi, and exhaled in relief when she turned her attention to Deception, who needed it more. He turned to settle himself between Donabi's forelimbs, resting his head against one of her legs and staring at the black female, then up at Donabi, awaiting her to do something. But nothing happened.

And soon the beta fluently sauntered in. Rio dipped his maw respectfully to him, looking up as he spoke to him. M'names Rio, Indy, he responded quickly, silently preferring that the young beta would go to Cep instead of himself. I'm okay, really! he said in response to Indris's orders that Donabi look at his chin. He listened on as he spoke to Cep, eagerly awaiting what he had to say to him. Meanwhile, Rio whimpered unknwoingly, uncomfortable with the mild throbbing of his bleeding chin. user posted image

The hecticness of the moment was catching up to Donabi. Deception announced promptly she was feeling a little under the weather, and Donabi knew of absolutely nothing that would help. She whimpered, feeling all together helpless. "We're gonna do something about this. We're going to get you feeling better." For someone so worried, Donabi sounded confident. A bit serious, but the worry that was reeking havoc in her insides was non apparant in her words. Not only was Deception sickly, though, but the little youth that was sitting there was bleeding. When Donabi brought up this obvious point, he stammered and then agreed, but turned his attention back to Cep, helping the best he could. Donabi squeezed her goldens shut, praying for an answer. There was no way she could tend to two hurt wolves, even one was a problem.

"Okay... um... okay..." Donabi strutted back and forth, trying to decide which one to tend to first. However, her thoughtful gestures weren't needed. The arrival of none other than the Beta, Indris, caused Donabi to gush with happiness. Rumors had it that he knew some things of medicine. He'd be quite the helping hand. She smiled, though still frantic. "Oh. Thank goodness you're here Indris." She stood alert, ready for a command or instruction from the higher ranking sooty wolf. Tend to the kid were his words. They stung a little, not because of the manner of the words, but because she could have at least thought of that on her own. Hurt feelings weren't the biggest issue here though, so she shook them off quickly and sat down by the pup, eyes warm and welcoming. She stooped down to his level. This wasn't very far, given that she was small herself. "Rio, is it? I'm Donabi. We need to get that chin cleaned up in order for it to heal right, or something like that." She tried to sound as confident as possible, and began tenderly licking the boy's chin. She backed off for a moment, and said kindly. "Tell me if it stings, alright?"

She went back to the simple healing gesture, instincts of a she-wolf kicking in dramatically. Oh, what she wouldn't give to have children one day, to tend to them and keep them from harm. However, that day was far in the future, if it was even to come at all. Right now her responsibility was to watch the pack puppies, to make them feel like part of a great big family and to teach them the ways of the wolf. She smiled at Rio, then allowed her eyes to drift to Cep and Indris.

The ebony male was questioning his fellow black packmate. Donabi's heart went out to Deception - the first wolf to talk to her, to show her around. Although whatever case of what she had may be minor - Donabi wouldn't be able to bare it if something happened to her friend. Get better, Cep, please? Hopefully Indris's suggestion of herbs would be helpful. Donabi winced, thinking of the worst, then focused her attention back on the little one.

lol. I've never actually listened to Incubus, though I intend to... xD

Soon enough, yet another scent entered her nostrils - for there was one thing that the sickness had yet to do to her, and that thing was numbing a few of her senses. Sure, her general awareness of the world around her was somewhat out of whack, but at least she was still able to focus and notice the events that were occurring so rapidly. It was a familiar scent, not a foreboding one at all, and she was quickly able to identify it as that of another resident of the 'Fields. However, at the moment, she was incapable of determining exactly who it was. Despite that, there was no need to try to figure out exactly who was approaching, as the dark male figure soon came into view - clearly, Indris had now arrived on the scene. He was in control of the situation, despite having just shown up, and had quickly addressed Donabi before approaching Cep and asking her what was wrong. "Hello, Indris," she began, figuring that it was nice to greet him despite her condition, "It just started a few hours ago - until then, I was feeling fine. I felt nauseous and somewhat dizzy, and then...everything just went black. I woke up a few minutes ago." She grimaced as she finished speaking, not from any sort of pain, but simply from the acknowledgement of just how ill she was.

She smiled as the pup, who had just recently introduced himself as Rio, mentioned that she needed help, but proceeded to brush off his own injured condition as nothing to be worried about. It suddenly struck her that the intactness of the ability to smile and even frown was a good thing - when someone was so sick that they couldn't pull a facial expression, they were pretty far-gone. At least she wasn't that horribly sick...yet, she couldn't help but add in her mind. This condition - or, to be more accurate, its level of seriousness and general oddness - had dropped upon her a slightly more cynical and worrying nature. Her level of focus was low enough that, when Donabi stated that something would be done about this, Deception could only nod weakly and smile hopefully.

sit back, relax
Thanks for the compliment, Rio. =D And I’ve heard of Incubus but never heard them, if you get what I’m saying. Guess I’ll have to sometime.

sit back, relapse again
When the boy introduced himself his superior nodded understandingly, aware that Rio didn’t want to be his main focus when Deception was so sick. The silvery whelp’s show of bravery was really quite endearing, but as he watched for Donabi to follow his instructions the Beta felt a pang of guilt. Had he spoken too harshly with the tawny girl? Perhaps he was more stressed-out by the memory of that night with Vrash than even he knew (no matter how good he’d felt)… Pulling himself back into the present, he murmured, “Sorry—guess I’m not myself either today,” and tapped his nose to the Eta’s cheek in apology. Having remedied that situation, Indris was all the more prepared to address his current patient.

“Hello back,” he barked, keeping up the sense of casual camaraderie her greeting inspired between them. As she listed her symptoms they clustered in the dark wolf’s mind, and he tried to form some sort of diagnosis. Sadly, all the herbs and flowers whose properties he’d been forced to memorize as a boy were muzzied and mixed-up in his head; he would be little help here, Medic though he was. Perhaps she was simply dehydrated? “Nausea, dizziness, fainting… Would you like some water, Cep? And what have you been eating lately? Anything unusual?” He depended on the she-wolf to tell him what might constitute “unusual”—who knew what could have caused such a varied reaction. She looked perfectly healthy though, and was able to speak, focus her eyes, form expressions… Praying this would turn out to be nothing more than a twenty-four-hour bug, the blue-eyed canine smiled hopefully back at his audience, wishing he could do more.

Since Rio's gone I'm going to powerplay him going away. I assume this is ok? And sorry for the looong wait, I didn't know he had left and I thought it was his turn.

Donabi eyed the other pair still, carefully noting Indris's style of tending to Deception. She wanted to gain some tips and confidence from the experienced Beta. Questioning. He was questioning right now. There wasn't much to ask Rio, as it was obvious the mark on his chin was fresh, and yes, it was bleeding. She did all she knew how to do. Gave him a friendly nudge. "Rio, I want you to go wash the cut off in that stream around the corner and then go get some rest. It'll make you feel loads better." She tapped him lightly on the shoulder and he was scurrying off to clean it up. Still, she worried for him. True -- it was only a cut and it would heal up, but she was sure the poor pup still hurt. Hopefully a nap would restore his good will.

Reassured a bit that Rio would be fine if he followed her orders, she quietly sauntered up to Indris and Deception. Her friend's case was quite bizarre, and she couldn't help but feeling as if she'd encountered something familiar with another wolf. Donabi racked her brain, thinking back and hoping she could offer some help. She didn't get too close, though. She hated, despised, and not to mention was hellishly terrified of getting sick. She wanted to offer comfort though, and crept up as close as she could to her friend.

Now what was the similar incident? If Donabi could remember, perhaps it would be helpful in curing Cep. Not that she knew of a cure, but perhaps Indris would. Who had she encountered recently? Takashi and Kimoto - but that was nearly a month ago and everybody was fine. Bob? No. Shosani, Jake, Atraiyu? No, no, and no. But... Azul! Yes, Azul had acted almost exactly like this! They had raced through the water at the Cascades only two days ago. The Shadower had choked on water, then started acting dizzy and fainted. Was it the water? Maybe. It was worth a shot. She waited for Indris to stop talking, then put in her two cents.

"I'm no medical expert and this may be random, but did you happen to drink water from the Cascades of White Rose Lake?" Deciding that maybe this would just be random and a waste of time to ask, she added - "It's just that one of my friends choked on some water at the Cascades, and then minutes later started to act dizzy and she fainted. Maybe it's something in the water? I hadn't thought of it before, but... just maybe?"

Indris' next words were a simple return of her greeting, and then he proceeded to move on to more serious matters, repeating her symptoms and asking her if she would like some water. Then he asked whether she had consumed anything unusual as of late. She thought about it for a moment...no, she had already acknowledged the fact that her meal of the day - and all of the other animals that she had eaten recently - had seemed completely normal. ”Water would be alright,” she said, nodding simply before thoughtfully continuing with, ”I haven't eaten anything unusual. I caught a rabbit today, not long before this started, but it seemed normal and healthy.” She shrugged, but instantly regretted it - she forced back a yelp as a painful ache shot through her shoulders. Hm, so maybe this was what it would feel like when she grew old and starting to get arthritis pains...she pushed the thought aside, attempting not to veer off-topic. Now was not the time to ponder about which random details her future would include.

She glanced briefly at Rio as, under Donabi's orders, he headed off towards the stream. In the midst of all the fuss that was being made over her own condition, she had managed to forget that he was injured, and felt slightly bad about it - but then again, there was nothing that could be done about her concentration levels. She could still focus, but her mind was sometimes skipping around from one topic of thought to another, making it difficult to remember some things.

Her gaze turned to the lighter-furred female as she asked Deception whether she had consumed any water from the lake lately, mentioning that a friend of hers had fainted from it, and suggesting that it could be the cause of all this. ”Yes, earlier today,” she said, ”It's not impossible, but...the water is usually so pure, it would be strange for something to suddenly get into it...” she shrugged once more, as she had unfortunately forgotten about the achelike pains that it caused. Her body, on the other hand, had prepared itself this time - and so she didn't feel quite as much pain in her shoulder. Suddenly remembering what Indris had said before, she quickly added, ”But to be safe, maybe I shouldn't have any more water right now, after all.”

Sorry this took so long. Hopefully we can wrap it up soon, but I’m not sure how.

As he watched Donabi sending Rio off for some water, Indris felt grateful that she was with him. When he wasn’t preoccupied with Deception’s account, the charcoaled male studied the Eta from the corner of his eye. She seemed eager to learn from him—inwardly the young leader blushed—but also at odds with something in her own mind. As if she was trying to remember something important, all while trying to near him while avoiding Cep at the same time. Indy wondered if possibly she had gotten ill once in her past and the espidoe had scarred her. If only he knew… Pricking his ears up automatically as the tawny lady’s voice caught and pulled him from his thoughts, the Lonán wolf quirked his brow, repeating Donabi’s words to be sure he’d heard her right. “Something…in the water? That’s entirely possible, I suppose…” Inwardly the boy’s heard lurched; he’d swum in the Cascades the morning after…meeting Vrash. Probably swallowed some of the water, too. Masking his disquiet, he turned to regard Deception, wondering if her report might prove the Eta’s theory.

He nodded understandingly at her words, pleased to note that they were still crisp and very intelligible. He winced a bit at her yelp; he could now add “muscular aches” to the list of possible symptoms, it seemed. As she turned to regard Rio’s departing form, Indris watched the dark Fielder’s eyes. While they appeared focused, something erratic lurked beyond them, just barely. Choosing not to mention it—after all, things could be much worse—he let out a low growl of comprehension when she mentioned the water and her doubts about its contamination. “I know what you mean,” the blue-eyed teen said, neglecting to mention that he’d previously bathed in the “pure” water. “But until we’re sure what’s the matter with you, I agree; no more Cascade water for you. Or any of us, on that note.”

He swiveled his skull to catch Donabi’s eye, to be sure she had heard his warning. “You said another wolf got sick? I wonder…” Again Indy’s heart staggered within the cage of his ribs. “It’s quite possible we have an epidemic on our paws. Maybe it’s too early to tell, but we’ll all have to be careful from now on. Don’t raise any alarms just yet…I’d like to be sure that something bigger than some new strain of flu is going around before starting a panic. But if things don’t clear up within the next few days, and any of you see others with these symptoms, then Quicksilver will want to know about all this.” The Beta hoped he was doing the right thing by holding off for a few days. He just didn’t want to make a mountain out of a molehill. And he didn’t want to admit to himself that he might be in Deception’s position someday soon.

Sorry again, guys. I'm done with work on the 9th, but my boss decided to heap the hours on me since it's my last week. ^__^

Donabi eyed both of them as her proposal went through their heads. She held her breath. She knew if she had brought up something that could just be considered nonsense, that they might think she was loony in the end. But Donabi firmly believed that the water was the cause, and she wasn't going to change it. But why? Why had the water gone bad? The thoughts were circling round and round in her head, and she shook off the muddled thinking when Indris and Deception both answered.

At first, Cep seemed skeptical about her water idea. Donabi understood her doubt, the water was indeed pure and crystaline usually, not a hint of bad stuff in it. It was so hard to believe it had become contamidated. "I know what you mean, Cep. I just think it's way too coincidental that it happened to both of you after drinking water." Another wavery glance was shot at her friend, she wanted nothing more than for her to get better. She smiled a bit when Deception said she'd avoid it. Donabi nodded, then turned to Indris.

Indris was thinking on a bigger scale, and Donabi's eyes widened at the thought, out of fear. An epidemic? Caused by the water? Yes, it was plauisble one or two wolves had gotten sick off of it, but the whole valley? Donabi was going to stay away from the Cascades, and try to keep others away too. She nodded in agreement with what the Beta said, though. She didn't want to see the valley running around in a panic attack. "Yeah, if anything, the alphas of all the packs should know. It's a scary thought - an epidemic."

She turned her cream tuffed head to 'Cep again. "Are you feeling any better? I wish there was something more we could do for you."

An expression of worry crossed her face as Indris agreed with the Eta that it was possible for the cause of all this to be in the water. Cep had already come to terms with the fact that it could be true, but she still didn't really want to believe it. If she truly accepted the fact that the water was contaminated, she would probably end up being frightened to drink out of virtually anything besides puddles from the rain - not to mention the fact that she simply hated the idea of being sick. It had been a long time since she had fallen ill before, and never in her life had she actually blacked out, or even fallen unconscious without wanting to - that was, until today. Now confusion and disbelief seemed to be tearing her mind to shreds, and the worst part was that she couldn't seem to do anything to get rid of them.

The dark-pelted male proceeded to agree with Cep's previous statement that it was unusual for the water to be anything but pure, but also agreed that it would be best if no one drank any of it. She simply nodded in response. She was still confused, but she was going to stay true to her word and not drink any water from the Cascades, or from the White Rose Lake, for that matter. She wasn't sure whether the sickness could intensify beyond this, but obviously, drinking from a source that was believed to be at fault definitely wasn't going to make things any better. However, her mind was taken off of that temporarily as she heard Donabi agree as well, stating that this couldn't all be coincidental.

She nodded as Indris began to mention how this could possibly be an epidemic, in which case the alphas should be alerted - but after a several-day wait, to make sure this really was so serious. Soon Donabi asked Cep whether she was feeling any better. ”Better than when I blacked out, yes,” she said, ”But I don't feel as if this is fading away. For now I suppose...I think I'll have to rest for a while. Even if that doesn't help, it's not good to be roaming around in a condition like this.”

And the show goes on. :D

“A very scary thought,” the once-Medic muttered with a shiver, once Donabi had made it clear that she stood by her theory. Why not? It was sensible. It was also quite logical that Deception and…who was it the tawny Eta had mentioned? Azul? Yes, that was it. It was also quite logical that Cep and Azul were not the only ones who might fall ill if the Cascades and their tainted water really were the thing causing their ailments. As Donabi went on, wistfully professing a wish to help her friend, Indris could only flick his tail in agreement. Why had all the old facts skipped from his head, lost to the cobwebs and the traumas of his youth? He knew nothing of herbs, and it really was a shame. Indy hated to see his pack-mate in pain, and it worried him all the more to think that others—including himself, though he still refused to admit that—might soon feel the same. How much time did he have left? What would happened to him? What might happen to all of them?

Cep’s uncertain expression put a halt to his racing brain, and Indris had to admire her. She appeared to be coming to terms with her sickness, and was surprisingly calm about it. Another wolf might have feared that the contamination in her body had produced this result, but the Beta knew better; Deception was a naturally quiet, strong canine. She could handle this, if only they all stayed calm and did their best to help her out. As the dark she-wolf spoke, Indy was careful to watch her, checking to see how the words flowed from her lips, and how focused her eyes remained, and whether her diction had changed in any way. From the outside, she appeared normal enough, though confusion still swam in the glimmer of her irises. Understandable, though they would do well to look after her. What if that mild disorientation turned to something worse, like full dementia? Indris convinced himself that that could be dealt with when (and if) it happened, and not before. For now, he agreed wholeheartedly to the idea that Cep should rest.

“No, don’t go anywhere; I’d hate for you to stumble and fall or black out again too far from home. Perhaps you should head back to your den? ‘Nabi and I could accompany you. Maybe even lie outside while you got some sleep…” The Beta had nothing better to do, and he really was concerned about his fellow Fielder. If Quicksilver needed him, if wasn’t as if he was on the other side of the Valley. He and Donabi could take shifts, even. Unless Deception thought it unnecessary. After all, she said she’d been feeling better. While it was now clear that the darkened woman wasn’t suffering from a twenty-four-hour bug, perhaps her symptoms would dwindle throughout the week as her immune system rose to the challenge of chasing this unknown invader from her body. They could only hope…

The tawny femme listened eagerly to the words spoken by both of her packmates. While this was not the most comforting situation to have on their paws, it made her feel good that the pack was there for each other. She eyed both wolves momentarily, admiring them for their loyalty and care. Another tiny tug on the side of her muzzle formed the slightest sliver of a smile as Deception stated how she felt, but the flicker was gone in almost an instant.

"Yeah, rest would be good. A nice hearty nap, maybe, to get you feeling better." And perhaps that was all Donabi could do, agree with her. Herbs, medical knowledge, even names of illnesses - Donabi had no clue. It made her feel worthless sometimes, but hey, everyone had their own strengths and weaknesses! And Donabi's happened to be care and passion, and the ability to be bubbly in the bleakest of times. A bit unuseful sometimes, but she did the best she could with it.

A flick of her tail followed the swift diversion of the eyes to her beta, who was proposing an idea. It made perfect sense, accompany the dark hued epsilion to her den and keep an eye on her. Play nurse. Donabi's eyes gleamed as she bobbed her head up and down with chipper movements, at least as chipper as she could muster.

"Yeah, I'll gladly go with you if you'd like to head to your den."

The agreements that this could be an epidemic continued to arise, as the dark-pelted male commented that it was an extremely scary thought. Although her confusion had made her into something of a skeptic, Cep had to admit that he was right. Sickness was something that she had managed to escape throughout her life - but then again, that wasn't the right word. 'Escape' made things sound as if she had been around illness quite a lot, but never experienced it herself, which wasn't the case. Perhaps it was more proper to say that she hadn't needed to attempt to escape it, because it simply had never reached her, or anyone around her. She assumed that it was partly due to the isolation of the cold mountain range that she had once called home, where no new arrivals ever came in, and few of its current inhabitants ever chose to leave. In any case, although life here was much better, at least one portion of her luck was beginning to falter. That was health.

Her words about going to rest received two responses, one from each of the others. Donabi's words had been briefer, simply agreeing that sleeping for a while could make her feel better. Indris had said more, also agreeing that she shouldn't go anywhere, and that it would be best for her to head back to her den; along with an offer for the two of them to accompany her. The other female also agreed with the idea. Upon hearing their kind and generous words, Deception smiled, and at first couldn't find any words to form a response from. Then she finally said, ”You two don't have to, unless you really want to...if it's going to be a burden to accompany me, please don't. But, yes, I'd be grateful if you came.” It wasn't as if she didn't want their company - after all, she appreciated and considered herself a friend of both of them - but she didn't want her condition to take up their time. Of course, she was grateful that they had offered, and her words resonated truth; she wouldn't mind if they trekked back to her den with her.

Starting the last round? Sorry if this sucks, I’m just trying to catch up on things before school. Ack, this is so short.

Donabi’s deference to his idea heartened the post-yearling, who managed to return her slight smile when he caught its glint. She was a good wolf, the tawny girl. She more than made up for her medical ignorance with kindness, and he—a solemn creature who needed constant reassurance of his own happiness—could only respect her for that. Turning to regard their patient, Indris caught the fear in Cep’s eyes and flicked his ears thoughtfully. He had not been sick in a long time—Auburn Hill was not a place too welcome to newcomers, and any vagabonds who might have carried disease (or anything else unwanted within the borders) were chased away or killed nigh-instantly. The vale had been a secluded place, and the medics were skilled wolves with many seasons of experience to their credit. By rights, he ought to have joined their ranks long ago as an accomplished doctor. But he could not face the bloodshed demanded of him in exchange for power. And so the Lonán boy had come here… But it’s common knowledge that fate cannot be run from. It seemed that another calamity had struck the Valley at last.

At first Indy opened his mouth to speak, almost to say something as to how it was no trouble at all, they were Deception’s friends and it was only right to go with her. But he thought he knew the quiet wolf well enough not to blather on when she knew he and Donabi were both more than willing to help her, so the ebony canine simply nodded, that slight smile coming back onto his face as he thought of doing something to help his sick pack-mate. “Lead the way,” he asked of the raven-pelted female.
