Seeing as though no one else has stepped foward to start it, this is the puppy search thread. Set in Whisper Forest and open to any puppies who've heard the word from our hero. XD
Arsenio was afraid, and it definately wasn't the same kind of fear he normally felt. He had had the fear that paralyzed when he had been chased by the wolf demon on Spirit Mountain. He had had the fear of his parents not wanting him around anymore. But this was totally new. It was the fear of not knowing who would get it next.

It being the sickness that had wormed its way into Arsenio's already broken life. Many had been stricken by it already – his mother, his sister, Allure, Poet... He had even been feeling a strain of dizziness and even slight nausia up in the reaches of the Mountains. But nothing had been serious. Yet.

And that was why Arsenio was here, at the base of the Mountains and at the fringe of the Whisper Forest. It was here where he had spend many long hours under the watchful eye of his now disappeared mentor, Ahanu. He knew it well and he thought it might contain a cure for this strange epidemic. But he couldn't do this all by himself. He'd need help. Not the stuffy help of adults, oh no. The help of his fellow puppies.

The growing puppy sat down carefully, the noon sun in his golden eyes. Taking a few deep breaths, the Phase child then took a sharp intake of breath and then exhaled. But it wasn't a normal exhale – oh no. It was a howl. A very short and serious howl which would probably blanket some amount of the Valley. He didn't mind bothering anyone (they were working for everyone, right?), but he wanted the volunteers he'd informed to hear. "Puppies of the Valley, our search begins!"

Yay initiative. I was beginning to wonder if any of us were going to set ourselves straight. Can't say I was doing a very good job. >.< Let the search begin!

In Character
Two white ears, no longer too big for the head they were attached to, pricked themselves to the sound of a familiar howl. It held tight chords, youthful and high, but the tone was deep and strong as it clicked around inside Tantamount's head. He recognized these qualities instantly to be attributed only to his older brother, and without even a question as to the nature of the call the white pup clambered to his feet. He had settled himself in a bush, as was a common practice for him on these hot summer days, and crawling out of its shade he held his head tall as he recalibrated his sense of direction. Assessing Arsenio's location south of him, the lanky pup set off in a flash of white fur.

His mind was swirling with thoughts. Things had become so stressful lately. His own life was taking strange turns, twisting him about in adolescent angst which was really rather irritating. His brother's recent stay on Mount Shadow had shaken him considerably, and he still wasn't quite accustomed to Arsenio's mode of thought. He wasn't sure if he was angry at him for leaving, or just glad he was back. To top it all off, things had been getting really strange on the mountain. Wolves were acting different, his family was acting different – and these changes were not the same as the ones he was going through. They seemed uncontrollable, dangerous, and like everything else in Tantamount's world: frightening.

He sensed a worried tone in Arsenio's howl, one which made him confident his brother's mind was on a similar track to his own. Still lost in thought, Tantamount found his feet brought him into the forest, the scent of his brother drawing him nearer until the two were within each other's view. Having been to far away to hear the reason of the call, he slowed down, bowing his head an inch in respect of his older brother. The worried look on his successor's face was reflected in his own. "Senio – I came as soon as I heard your call. What... is to be done?" He asked, feeling that he was not overstepping his knowledge of the situation to assume that his older brother was concerned with an issue, and did not simply wish to proclaim something.

*HOPS IN* =o OMG YAY. I hadn’t seen this thread!

Thank you, blessed fate, for this marvellous coincidence.

Chogan had just concluded the first ever meeting between himself and the fabled Aunt Siaqi when the crisp call of a very familiar voice caught his ears like an angler’s hook, jolting the northward bound pup back in the direction he had just come so quickly that for a moment, he couldn’t tell left from right. It took him a moment to regain his bearings – and sense. What was this about? Search? And wasn’t Arsenio marooned amongst the black rocks of Mount Shadow, convinced that there was no longer a place for them in the Phase family? Wait. Phase? Chogan’s pulse quickened, realization caught his eyelids and pulled them heavenward. Siaqi was Arsenio’s mother. Siaqi was Aunt Siaqi – did that affect his relationship with Arsenio? And – god forbid – Chena? And why the heck couldn’t all this occur to him at slightly more convenient time? Absolutely bedazzled by the tsunami of totally unconnected thoughts, Chogan made haste towards Nova Mountain once more – he wasn’t sure why, but a note of urgency had existed in that howl which could not be ignored. Maybe the other pups had noticed the sickness? He hadn’t forgotten the demented trespassers in Silver Creek - and never would – but the happy encounter with his aunt had momentarily overshadowed the initial fear.

It wasn’t long before he reached the source – true enough, there stood Arsenio, side by side with a considerably whiter pup that bore a striking resemblance to the majestic female he had just left. Tantamount? He would find out soon enough. The half-Mexican – still a virtual tiramisu when pitted against the Phase brothers, decked out in cream, brown, and a dusting of cinnamon – emerged from a set of bushes, quivering with a mixture of worry and excitement. It seemed so …official, and yet there were only three of the present. ”Arsenio!” He called, cantering up to the pair and positioning himself so that playing connect the dot with the tips of their noses would form a triangle. ”What’s..er…what’s happenin’? I seen some WEIRD stuffs in the valley, all these sick animals an’ wolves and smelling fire but there is no fire, and…” he trailed off, glancing in Tantamount’s direction. ”…H-Hiya. I’m Chogan. ‘s you Tantamount?”

ooc xx just ignore this post if you dont want me to join. you can ignore the first, second and foruth paragraph because they arent really relevant. just her thoughts.

ic xx
Kari was tired of being alone. Her heart was pounding in her head and her head rung painfully. Sweat poured out of her bodice, and soaked her fur right through. It was a terribly hot day, and she darent drink any water. The dehydrated cub yawned and sucked up her own spit out of her cheeks, to try and get her body temperature down to a reasonable degree. The had been out of the Nova Mountain grounds for quite a while, but her past made her quite a wanderer. She'd heard about this terrible sickness and csaught it a while ago, and she was just recovering from the minor strain. She felt dizzy as she stood, to make her way to some shade under a willow, but instead she began to make her way back to the Nova Mountain territory.

She did not know why. She had really no reason to go back there today, since Amy was still on the plateau. Kari also wasnt allowed into contact with most of the adults, since they'd caught the sickness. The reason that had abesntly floated into her head came with a howl from the alpha pup Arsenio. She had seen him around sometimes and she knew his name but that was really all she knew about him. There was a high note of urgency in his short howl, so Kari tipped back her small tiara and gave a little puppish howl. It was getting better, but it was not a proper howl yet. She added a bark at the end, just to make it seem less pathetic and infantile.

By the time she reached Arsenio, she was soaked through. She didnt smell much, it just seemed like she'd fallen in a river. There she saw the alpha pup and Tantamount, both whom she'd seen around and knew botht heir names, but there was another male. He was two months older than her, and he smelled like he came from another part of the Salvajes. She nodded to the three male pups, and said "Arsenio, Tantamount, and ..?" in a way of politeness. The little silence at the end of her sentence was to imply that she was enquiring as to the third males name. The little gray female sat down just where the forest began, and squinted to the top of the mountain.

The sun beamed down on them all, and Kari felt a little naseous and dizzy. It wasnt serious, just a little pang. although she was only young she'd been through a lot more in her life than most of the pups her age she'd encountered and she was very mature for her age. Because of this, she just oozed a sense of mystery. Her past had made her slightly cold and made her seem dis-interested in what any wolf had to say, but the thruth was, she was intrigued. Kari'd heard about the sickness but she knew not what the group of four was to do about it. Some cubs had been searching for cures, but Kari would eat her own tail if they ever found one.

Good, I think four's a decent number. :D If any other puppy medics want to jump in, feel free to at any time. -nods- And... I'm thinking that this shouldn't have a given post order, just post whenever you feel like, once per turn, I guess?
Arsenio couldn't say he was proud about his fiasco with running away to Mount Shadow. Truely, he, now that he was caught and all, couldn't understand why he had did it in the first place. All of the thoughts that he had placed to be fueling his separation of his family seemed far-out now, to where he didn't understand how he had believed them in that time.

Plus, he felt downright horrible for letting Chena and Tantamount down. He could understand his parents missing him dearly, but they had also given him a decent-sized grounding, but his siblings were simply just missing him, no anger attatched. He had promised himself to make it up for the two of them. For Chena, he would find that cure. For Tantamount... well, he wasn't sure yet.

And, when his slightly younger brother arrived first (of course, he lived on the Mountain, so it was to be expected), Arsenio piped up and chirped his name in greeting, wagging his tail. Though it was a slightly solumn occasion, there was no reason that Arsenio not be glad to see his brother. "We're gonna go an' fin' a cure!" the eldest Phase child said boldly, looking out into the Woods as he heard a noise.

And, as it was, it was Chogan, one of his very good friends from the Fields. With another smile and some more wags of his tail, he yipped another greeting. "Chogan!" About to proclaim something else, Arsenio was swept away in the other boy's onslaught of words. He deflated, and then listened to every word. That certainly was some really weird stuff. Arsenio hadn't heard or seen much of it, himself. Odd. Parting his jaws to reply, Arsenio was once again cut off when a third came a-runnin' to the gathering of puppies.

It was strange -- Arsenio had never met her before, and yet she smelled of the Mountain. Cocking his head slightly to the side in a show of curiousity, he was astounded once again when the other knew his and his brother's name. "Yah, tha's righ'." he agreed, thinking it was Chogan's place to introduce himself, not his own. Again, he tried to speak up, and this time triumphed. "But who's you? 'Ve neva' seen y'roun' a'fore."
