__________ As Bronx left the den, the night grew darker and stronger – a deep, powerful blackness… much like Bronx, in fact, but this time it was taunting him. As he stood at the enterance to the den, his head felt heavy and warm... memories were flashing before him. He remembered the pack meeting which had been some weeks ago now, and he remembered it clearly for it had been a while since the Guardian had felt more foolish. At the call of Sinistra, the Alpha Male of ye olde Nova Mountain, the pack had gathered, and discussed the rather macabre topic of the illness, what they knew, and what could be done about it. In amongst the concern he had for his sister, Allure, and many of his friends, Bronx had noticed something else that related to her – Calliope. Calliope who had smiled at him sympathetically, and then offered herself another smile – subtle, albeit, but Bronx had noticed it all the same. A smile that suggested she was happy Allure had fallen so badly ill.
__________ It had never been his direct business, really, but even upon his arrival it had been near enough for Sinistra to speak of it to him, and explain the circumstances. What made it all the more perilous was the fact that Bronx actually liked the Alpha’s mate – she had been pleasant company in the past, and had a gusto-filled, cheeky sense of humour that he enjoyed. If her response to Bronx’s news was made without Allure’s presence, what would the female pair be like in the same scene?
__________Bronx growled slowly and dipped his head as if his skull was too heavy. His eyes closed momentarily, and he breathed through his white teeth, and when he opened his eyes again everything appeared faint and hazy. As if he weren't in control of his own body, he slowly sunk to the ground, his long arms out before him, his head ringing loudly, and his memories battling one another for a place in reality.

Finally he had something more direct in common with the ill wolves.

"WHEEEEE! JOSEPHIIINEEE, MY FLYING MACHIIINEEEE, UPP SHE GOES, UPPP SHE GOOOOOESSS!" The white femme staggered almost drunkenly through the lush forest that laid upon Nova, singing vivaciously to the trees and anyone else surrounding her that was (unfortunately) in earshot. Her offkey voice surely carried, its screeching pitch painfully unpleasant. If this was her normal concious state, she'd have pitied anyone who heard her delightful song, but as of right now - she didn't give a damn. The epidemic that had overwhelmed the Valley had managed to reach her as well, and she was acting out in a seemingly-drunk stupor, much like many others she'd encountered over the past several weeks. It was inevitable that the water would reach farther in the Valley, but her stupid thirst had gotten the best of her. And now she was paying the price, without ever realizing it.

Pausing in her unstable stride, she gasped aloud with a great, loud, "OH MY GOD!". She resumed movement, this time in a galloping motion, heading directly towards a tall pine dead ahead. She plopped herself directly in front of it, a smile gracing her maw from ear to ear. "HOLY SHIT! I HAVEN'T SEEN YOU IN FOREVER!", she yelled enthusiasticly. She turned her cheek to nuzzle her long lost friend, and as she did so, scraped her muzzle alongside the bark. Huh, well, that was unexpected. "YOU NEED TO SHAVE, MISTER!" She awaited a response, cocking her head to the side with a suspenseful look written on her face. After a few seconds had passed with no answer, she let a paw reach out to prod her amigo for an answer. Still no response, and with that, she turned tail and paced off in a huff. "FINE THEN. SCREW YOU!"

How dare he ignore her like that, after all they'd been through together. Now she was angry. Sighing discontentedly, she suddenly eyed a dark form out of the corner of her eye. "BABY!" she thought to herself excitedly. All this agrivation had just made her horny. With that, she decided to sneak up upon her reclining mate and give him a wolfen kiss, hopefully instigating a lovely mating session. Giggling to herself, she padded along on tip toes 'til she reached his resting spot. She then straddled him, one foreleg on either side, and leaned down to lick his maw. Her head was spinning - but that was all the better. She'd never had intoxicated sex before!

__________Bronx heard some ringing sound radiating from the distance, and slowly it grew. For a while he thought it was the piercing sound inside his head, but he then identified it as song – feminine, and with tune, but at the same time somewhat frantic. Bronx yawned through his teeth and then gave up. He wasn’t tired. Then… why was he tired? Because he was. Tired, that is. His head was drooping onto his paws as if he’d been awake for days and days, and he could barely lift his forelegs. He was now lying on the ground with no intention of getting up. Because as much as he’d like to get up and continue with his duties, he knew that if he even tried, he’d fall down flat again, rising dust from the ground.
__________So he remained where he was in a lazy sphinx position, his muzzle on his paws and his eyes narrowed. The singing grew nearer, and he looked up to see a hazy figure bound towards him. Before he knew it, the female had collapsed on top of him in an affectionate heap. Now, he knew as she came towards him that this was Calliope – he knew 100%. But suddenly her face wasn’t there anymore, and as he lost sight of her momentarily, his memories relocated himself and he saw her in simplicity. A young, slim, petite, beautiful white female with blue eyes. And she was nuzzling him happily, so surely… Tiamat. Though this was not like her. Tia was teasing, witty, sly and charming; not at the height of physicalness ASAP.
__________Nevertheless, logic suggested that it was Tiamat. Who else could it be? So Bronx turned his head and nuzzled at her neck, murmuring deeply into her ear; you shouldn’t trespass so freely. You’ll have the Guardian after you, he teased.

Her head spun violently, and her brain's normally sharp thoughts were now dulled down. Her vision was hazy, and all she knew was that her mate was beneath her. "Sin's" beautiful golden eyes glinted in the brilliant moonlight, and she sighed contentedly to herself. He was relief from her episode, and the Theta couldn't have been happier that he was here with her.

His statement threw her off-guard; tresspassing? But...she lived here, how could she be tresspassing? They both lived here, together. It was then, however, she "realized" that perhaps they'd wandered into Whisper Forest, and a pack now resided there. It was the only thing she could think of that made his statement make any sense; though, his statement was the least of her worries. His voice in her ear made her shudder, but in a good way, the way that sent chills down her spine. If she'd known it had been Bronx, perhaps it'd have been the other kind of shudder. The shuddering you do when you realize you're kissing someone that's not your own mate.

She nuzzled him affectionately in return, giggling now as a response to his statement. The ivory femme had no care in the world where she was trespassing at this point. In fact, she didn't give much of a damn about anything but the scene unfolding before her. Her own maw now to his ear, she uttered her words, coy and breathy. "AND WHAT'S THE GUARDIAN GOING TO DO?"

__________Bronx would have realised that the female’s eyes appeared to be hazy and glazed if he himself had not been suffering from the very same affliction. He knew he was unwell and had a desire to simply rest and try to get better, but there was a greater desire, and she was beside him now, her pale fur mingling with his contrasting body, her blue eyes swept over his own. There was nothing wrong with some blurred vision, unexplained loss of energy and a bit of… erm, amnesia, was there? Bronx realised for a second that yes; there was something “wrong” with that, but then he forgot that he had come to that conclusion. Indeed, he forgot that he ever had amnesia.

He turned to Tiamat.

__________You tell me, he growled quietly, his voice low and teasing as he leant forward and ran his tongue sensuously over her neck. Had they both been aware of the situation, they would have noticed the strangeness of Calliope’s side at this very moment. After all, if Bronx was Sinistra, why would he have even mentioned the Guardian? And, what was more, why would Calliope wonder what the Guardian was going to “do” to her? It was all very confusing. So much so, in fact, that Bronx wasn’t even confused.

She wasn't concerned with any Guardian, or what he would do to the pair if he caught them tresspassing. The only thing she was focused on was him, and her overwhelming craving for him. She barely realized she couldn't see clearly, her vision blurred and her head heavy. Her entire body was heavy, but it didn't burden her in the slightest. She'd missed her lover lately, seeing as the two had found no time to spend together after their return; and Calliope fully planned on making up for lost time.

She didn't second guess Sinistra's identity in the slightest. The vixen had no reason to believe this male was anything but - after all, if he hadn't been, wouldn't they both have realized it moments ago? His tongue across her silken neck made her shiver with anticipation, his growling tease making her sweat already. She'd already forgotten what he'd said, because she didn't really give a damn. She longed for him. "I WANT YOU.." she whispered.

__________The desiring words the female spoke to him swept into his memory with the only voice that could be possible in this situation; Tiamat’s voice. There wasn’t anyone else he would let it be and thus, logically, there was only one person it could be. Yet there was something in her tones that was unfamiliar… a hint of another accent he had never heard her use before, maybe? Tiamat… he murmured, about to continue with something equally true, but Bronx was still aware that he was not feeling well. To him it was just a headache and a bit of hazy vision; it had nothing to do with recognising his lover or not; it was more about shutting out the idea that he couldn’t recognise her (that was how Bronx’s reasoning went).
__________He shifted his dark muzzle slightly so he was gazing into her eyes, and at this close quarters his vision fleetingly became accurate. Bronx had been expecting to see the oceanic depths of the female’s eyes; that navy-swept profundity of intelligent blue and the paler twinkles of dashing cerulean, but for a moment he didn’t see that. Tiamat’s eyes appeared now to be much paler and of more solid colouring; a smooth cobalt colour which was scattered with the feverish lights in Bronx’s own eyes. Tiamat, he repeated, the sensuous tease now hidden from his deep voice; what happened to your eyes.

The name hit her like a sack of bricks. "Tiamat?" She may have been deliriously ill, but she knew she wasn't called Tiamat. It was entirely unfamiliar, an alias she'd never heard before in her life. At the realization, her ears perked rapidly in alarm, and she could feel the rush of the blood drifting to her face. It was a surge of rage, and a guttural growl emitted from her closed maw. Jealousy seiged her, and she'd never been more livid in her life. The ivory Theta had no knowledge of Bronx's relationship with Tiamat, or perhaps she'd have calculated her mistake - but she didn't, and at the current moment, she couldn't, so she was left with only one logical explanation.

The ivory vixen shakily rose to all four paws, her body vibrating with every move she attempted to make. She could no longer contain her anger, as she pressed her ears against her skull and rose her tail, baring her teeth. "WHO THE HELL IS TIAMAT?!," she screamed angrily. And more importantly - how could he do this to her?

Bronx watched as the female’s eyes changed even more – from affection and lust to confusion and then anger. He stared (or rather glared) as she got immediately to her paws and started snarling at him. The little white female to the huge dark Guardian, which looked a bit stupid of her, and he looked at her blankly, still in his lain down position. As the white female growled and demanded answers of him, he knew for sure that this wasn’t Tiamat – for his graceful lover would never be so fickle and puerile, and would also know that Bronx would not stand for that type of behaviour. Being a dominant male, Bronx didn’t answer her question, but got slowly to his paws in his own time, ignoring her. He felt his head rush with the same headache that had been thudding at him for hours, and his gaze, although still hazy, could make out the girl’s form.
There has been a misunderstanding, he said tonelessly, piecing together what this must mean, though not knowing entirely who this female was, I’m ill. I know I’m ill. I thought you were Tiamat and I believe you thought I was someone else. His voice deepened into serious tones, I suggest you leave now.

If he had indeed been her own mate, she would have ripped him to shreds there on the spot. But after a moment, she began to realize the subtle differences between him and her Sinistra, and the awful mistake she'd made. Gulping, she studied him for a few moments - "oh my god." It was Bronx, she knew it was Bronx. Her heart sank in her chest, and she sighed heavily.

Her illness had gotten the best of her, and now here she was, face to face with a mistake she'd never meant to make. She didn't really know how to explain to him, but his explanation was correct. They'd both gotten caught up in a case of mistaken identity. His toneless voice suggested his shock about their mistake, and she took two steps back before replying. "I THOUGHT YOU WERE SIN...MY MISTAKE. I MUST BE DELUSIONAL..." The last part was muttered in a low, almost unaudible tone. Eyeing him once again, she set off in the other direction, shame and almost disbelief coursing through her.

Fun thread. See you next time. :)

With his fierce eyes softened only by the illness itself, Bronx watched the female get up and leave. There was slight threat in his eyes; that kind of masculine dominance that perhaps Sinistra didn't possess with his females (which was probably a good thing with his mate). Had Bronx known that this was Calliope he would have expected her to be a bit more aggressive than this; for although he didn't know her well, he would count her as a friend, despite what she and Allure had. But she was obedient and he saw the shock in her blue eyes as she realised that there had been a mistake, then she left, which was most certainly for the better.
His head heavy and his eyes clouding over again, Bronx sunk closer to the ground and closed his eyes before he fell unconscious. As the female had called him "Sin", he knew now that she was the mate of the Alpha; that had been Calliope. Ah, fuck. He had been fooling around with the Alpha's girl. What would Sinistra think. What would Calliope think when she was better. What would Tiamat think. But all those thoughts faded due to his own carelessness with the feelings of others and as sleep (or unconsciousness) finally took over his head, he did not know that when he woke up he would remember little to nothing of this incident.
