ooc: sorry for the delay folks. I'm not quite sure how this is going to go, but here goes.

ic:

The past few weeks had been a series of highs and lows. It was an unusual situation for the wolf, who was used to keeping his head and maintaining a steady disposition. Now he was highly manic depressive, soaring to such great heights that he felt he could fly clear across those ominous looking mountains to the south, and the next moment crashing down so fast and so hard that it felt as if he would sink down into the very depths of Hell below.

On this particular morning he had woken up in great despair, feeling very existential about his existence. He lacked the motivation to get up and move around, so for a good three hours all he did was just lay there moaning and whining to himself about... well, he couldn't quite remember what it had been about. Then, as though some mystical creature had turned on a switch, he had literally jumped up from his wallowing and run around like a crazed being. He had suddenly become infused with energy, and had already run across the Fields twice by early afternoon.

It was now mid-afternoon, and the mottled wolf was drinking some fresh water from the River by the Firestone Marsh. It was one of the rare times that the changes between his moods was gradual, and for a brief respite he was sane and in control of his emotions. Recognizing that he was on a downward turn again, he left the water still slightly thirsty in order to return to the Fields. He considered his options, and determined that he would be better off in his pack territory, and perhaps not quite as sad if he encountered a fellow pack wolf. Right now, he had passed by his den. Looking at it, he was reminded just how lonely he was now with Kenzoku was gone, and that thought triggered his next downward spiral, and the mopey Niish returned. Kenzoku had been spending a lot of time with Radar since his return, and while Niish did not begrudge the other for wanting to come back to the Forest and the Fields, he felt as though the not-so-little pup had been taken away from him. Niish had searched in vain all across the Valley looking for a cure for Kenzoku's illness, and in the process he had become infected himself, something that he was only able to recognize now when he was in those rare in-between stages. Booting it, he left his den at a fast pace, racing towards the central part of the Strawberry Fields, hoping to run into some wolf or other to keep him stabilized until the next mood swing.

Well, any wolf except for those two, anyway. Niish wasn't sure how he would be able to deal with either of them right now.

When was this ever going to end?

It's cool Niish^^. This may be awkward, for I'm not sure how sick Kenzie is suppose to be here... and I'm assuming Radar is somewhere near by or with her.

A warm breeze from the north rustled through cinnamon fur as the sun crested the sky and turned back towards the west in a slow, steady descent. The sparkling globe made the long, drooling trip every single day from dawn until dusk and never once complained about its purpose in life, nor did it cease to rise at all. The slow procession always took place, though it altered a little from day to day. During those frigid, snowy weeks in the middle of the winter, days were short while the ever colder darkness grew stronger. It grew so great in length, that one might think the sun might not ever rise at all, yet just before all hope was lost and everything became shrouded in pure, intense shadow, twilight radiated from the eastern corners of the earth once more. The sun would fight back for his regal position over the world, starting his continuous gait a bit earlier each morn and ending a bit later each eve as his armies gained ground. Soon, plants and animals would simply flourish. From the dazzling colors of everything in bloom to the joyful bays of newborn fawns or the yelps of young pups, everything was bathed in the warm glow of sunlight.

It would get to the point where the rays simply baked the land, crisping the leaves and burning flesh. Fortunately, when all seemed destined to a life of fire, the cool shadows claimed the world once more. They offered respite for the dehydrated, exhausted creatures and took larger portions of the day until the whole process would start all over again. Yet despite this, the sun rose on. On this particularly hot afternoon, one canine pondered over the nature of such a resource. Her coat glistened brightly like one of his loyal subjects hidden among the ferns and berry bushes. To all colorblind creatures, she might not have existed at all, for the gleaming red of her petite body was completely drown out by the luscious emerald surrounding her. Even her two-toned eyes blended into her surroundings. Of course, that was excluding the large chunks of cream that streamed out of her at random parts of her body and gave her a ragged appearance. Old, dead tendrils from the downy fur beneath pulled free of their longtime homes and rose above to great the world and all its splendor. Unfortunately, that did not seem to help Kenzoku any.

Her shedding was late in coming, perhaps due to her species being use to slightly warmer climates that it took until midsummer for the heat index to actually register on her biological clock. Whatever the reason, the old hairs from the winter just past slowly worked their way out of the girl's flesh and revealed a sleek, short coat beneath with a brilliant scarlet sheen. Because of this, it seemed like the young wolf was in various stages of growth all at the same time from the streamline back of a young woman to the deep, old eyes clouded with shallow playfulness all the way to the rough, motley look of her fluffy rear and shaggy sides. On top of that, her naturally thin physique was only amplified by those exquisitely long legs and enormous ears to the extend that Kenzie almost appeared sickly thin or underfed. A high pitched yip echoed forth from her jaws into the surrounding territory, completely oblivious to the rest of her. It sang merrily into the afternoon light and lifted all the way up to the clouds.

As if the ground below had no hold on her, the youth leapt into the skies, soaring over bushes and thrashing mindlessly upon the weeds. Her paws wheeled around from side to side in the most ungraceful display, which teetered on the brink of falling. It was actually a wonder how the child managed to maintain her balance with all the rocking she was doing and the heavy sways she was making in whatever direction she turned too. Every twist was like an effort to keep the wolf from pummeling off the edge of a cliff with dirt and grass alike flying in her wake as her claws struggled to hold her steady. An ash-tipped brush shook sporadically from side to side, up and down and all around, for it no longer opted to aid in balance and choose to express the girl's simplistic, unadulterated bliss instead. A pink, moist appendage lolled out the left side of her mouth idly, like it could lap up the skies for all the panting she was doing. Perhaps she figured that it was easier to keep her noise maker out of her maw so the playful yips she made resounded across the entire territory. Or perhaps it helped to cool her down; after all, it had been several hours since she last had a drink or even stopped her aimless wandering to rest in the shade.

Granted, the dear was hardly left alone, but she seemed ignorant to that fact, her words spiraling into the air purely for her own enjoyment, yet seeming to address an array of invisible beings.
Oh lord Sun!. The less-than-nimble female hollered gaily above the wind. Why do yeh travel from dawn 'til dusk day aft'r day, n'er stoppin' fer nuttin? What invokes teh spir't in yeh? Doth teh fair lass, Moon, arouse such dedy-caseshun in yeh? I be finkin' she has 'er eye out fer yeh, lad. Teh Misses be gleamin' mighty prett'ly these past few eves. Mayhaps she be waitin' fer teh night when ye be wonder'n o'er. Aye, the lass be ever trailin' in yer shadows, followin' the brightly path yeh make durin' the day in 'er own time when darkness reigns. A light, distant smile crossed the twelve month old's already convoluted features then, her eyes twinkling with a clear madness, even though wonder dominated all else at the moment. Her usually sweet and unmistakably soothing voice was now twisted with a drugged, slow nature and unusually foreign accent, not to mention each addition word rode on the fringes of hoarseness. For a second, a touch of brilliance crossed her expression, but it crumbled into the rest of her almost as quickly as it started. Or is it ye who follows the moon?

Thanks Kenzie for pointing the thread out. *Pats and gives a cookie* I'm going to play it as though Radar doesn't know who was taking care of Kenzie while he was gone. I'm excited to see how this thread goes.

She never stops, he thought exasperated, she just never stops.

Weary and tender pawed, Radar refused to leave Kenzie’s side. When he had first met up with her upon his return, he had simply attributed her strange behaviour to being as blissfully happy to see him again as he was to see her. Then after a few days he had tried to kid himself into thinking that she had just changed with aged and nothing was really wrong. However, after a week, things had gotten worse. Not only was Kenzie going off the deep end but other wolves were falling ill. In no time at all, an epidemic had hit the lands. Initially he thought he had brought some sort of sickness to the lands but when he heard word of creatures far and wide becoming ill, he could no longer take the blame for an illness that touched creatures he had never crossed paths with.

Still, that did not help his pack. Radar did what he could in the ways of hunting and caring for his family but it never seemed to be enough. So many were falling ill and one small wolf could only catch so many mice a day and still look after his daughter. Radar would only hunt when Kenzie crashed and slept. He never knew when, where, or for how long the ailing youth would sleep. Though exhausted, his fear of losing her or any of his family kept him moving. Since his return he had no time to socialize and his exploration of the new lands only came from his hunting expeditions. There were so many new scents in the pack and he had not met any of them.

The normally bouncy red male limped alongside his daughter and tried his best to pluck out the tuffs of winter fur peeking out of her guard coat and groom her while she rambled. All basted morning he had tried to steer her into shade and cool grass to no avail. Radar panted heavily while she sprung around carelessly. If she kept going the way she was, she was going to kill herself. It made him want to cry.

Waiting for her to stop dancing so he could once more try to herd her to shade, Radar took a woeful gaze at their surroundings. Could he find nothing to treat Kenzie with? Was he going to lose her? At that thought, the exhaustion, worry, and fear all became to bearable and he hung his head mournfully, gritting his teeth against the howl he so desperately wanted to release. Holding it in only added to his torment but he refused to cause any more distress to the pack by adding his mournful cries to the mix.

“Please Kenzie,” he asked, his heart breaking, “You need to sleep. The sun is not your friend today. Please. I need you. I love you. Please rest.”
