The sharp yip caused the bi-toned puppy to tilt her muzzle towards her caller, a small, white female pup was rolled on to her back in a sea of orange and red leaves, contrasting so brilliantly it almost blinded her. With clumsy puppy agility, the young black and white whelp bounded towards her playmate, eagerly ready to tackle her sister in the leaves when a black figure swept to her side, shouldering her and causing her to roll. The black pup laughed at her, his brilliant orange eyes locked on her and mischief as he quickly apologized for being so rough. Before she could respond, a high-pitched howl rose not far off.. it was father, calling them home. Standing up quickly, the female pup's aqua eyes turned towards her sister, telling her they should probably go when she stopped dead at the sight. Her white sister's pelt was stained a savage red, the blood dripping from her body in a dangerous fast motion. Her once beautiful lips were wrinkled back in decay, patches of her fur missing. Snowflake looked sorrowfully to her sister, her ears flattening. "Look at what happened to me, 'Lure. Look at what you let happen."

A sharp cry rose from the sleeping figure, her black and white pelt damp with a chilled sweat as her eyes snapped open, her figure twisting with a start before she fell. A loud splash echoed her thudding heart, her eyes quickly glancing about to figure out what was wrong. What had happened. A nightmare.. just.. She trailed off, her eyes falling on the log she had fell asleep on the previous night, it being settled near the Hickory Woods Stream. Glancing down, still shaken, she realized she had fell in to the water. Breathing in and out deeply, she soon rose to her paws, feeling sick and numb as she climbed up the shallow bank, realizing from the salty taste that her muzzle was not only wet from the water, but from the tears that had escaped during her dream.

The black wolf quite appreciated the quietness of the wood. Not a creature seemed to be stirring, except for an occasional night-hunting bird, diving down on unsuspecting prey that would screech, but... just for a brief moment. Still, The Devil had not made his way into his own packlands, but he cared not.

He was about to settle down for a few hours and rest his legs, when a nearby splash alerted him. His ears flicked back with interest, and he lifted his muzzle slightly into the air, but the breeze was carrying his scent, not bringing theirs. With a low growl of irritation, he slipped between the trees and approached the river bank, arriving just in time to see a white and black female emerging from the cool water.

What are you doing? He snapped, the fur along his back bristled and his tail stiff with anger.

'What are you doing?' She heard the snapping voice, her own aqua eyes lifted to the speaker, startled and slightly embarrassed that another had just witnessed her brief moment of clumsiness. Blue-green met red, her gaze soon trailing to the bristled pelt as she felt her own hackles rise to the challenge, her features quickly turning icy, fueled by the image of her sisters corpse and this strangers anger. I thought it would be nice to take a swim, she hissed out, every word dripping sarcasm as she fully rounded up the shallow bank, her eyes glaring at him, as if asking him what the fuck did it look like to you? Sidling a bit away from the stranger, the Iota gave a quick shake of her pelt, disgusted at the day already.

Still lightly trembling, the female tried to erase her dream from her mind, though the horror still painted itself clearly in a perfect image. Her, Bronx, Snowflake.. all puppies. All so innocent. Little did they know how quickly Snowflake's life would be stolen away.. and Allure shuddered as she recalled the white whelp's words. 'Look at what happened to me, Lure. Look at what you let happen.'

He hated it when others faced him like she did, hated being challenged. Yes, I'm sure, The Devil retorted as he turned his face to avoid the cold spray from the female's coat. It was even more infuriating to him that after the female faced him she thought it was perfectly safe to just sidle away and free herself of water droplets. The Devil clicked his teeth and lashed his tail, before taking a savage snap at the wet female's flank.

Don't turn your back on me, he snarled, white canines visible beneath lifted lips.

The sound of clicking teeth caused her eyes to glance his way, giving her seconds to realize he was about to try to bully her around. The male snapped towards her flank, her own form shifting as he brushed his teeth against it, drawing blood before her own savage snarl ripped through her body. Her muzzle swung low, ears flat to her skull as she took a small leap forward where his muzzle was towards her flank, her own ivory fangs bared and making a snap towards his cheek with full intent on leaving an angry slash.

Her eyes blazed as her hackles bristled, her muzzle pulling away as she continued to keep it low and scrunched; protecting her throat while her tail whipped the air in anger. Don't, she ground out venomously, tell me what to do.

He drew blood from her flank, her fur caught between the rows of his teeth. But no sooner had he done that did she swing around and her teeth find their mark on his cheek. The flesh there was soft, and easily torn on her canines. The Devil did not flinch, but his lips pulled back in a hard line and his snarl escalated, his piercing red eyes turning to lance into hers. Like a cat, he lashed his tail, and his muscled rolled as he shifted his weight from foreleg to foreleg.

I'll do whatever I want, he hissed between clenched teeth. His ears were thrust forward and he stood to his full height. Moments passed, both opponents facing each other. Without warning, The Devil lunged forward at her. Forelegs outstretched and jaws opened, aiming at her face. His intent now was to force her onto her back, into submission, it was not a killing intent or his aim would have been lowered.

She felt satisfaction ripple through her body at the taste of his blood, her own cerulean eyes locking to his crimson ones. The black male stood tall, proud. Allure remained lower in a defensive posture, her neck scrunched and her eyes blazing in fury. Her ears remained aggressively plastered to the top of her skull. She waited only seconds, though it felt longer. She didn't bother replying to him, and the moment he began to move, she took motion. Coming towards her, she pivoted slightly to his right, his teeth gouging her teeth as she moved her muzzle toward his stomach, her own shoulder rolling forward to glide against his viciously in hope of pushing him back from her smaller frame.

There was hardly any thought process, only rage and instinct. She wasn't sure what his initial intentions were, but it would she would never submit to the red eyed fool. And she would be certain to leave her mark on him as a reminder.

She was quick on her paws, able to dodge his frontal assault and take his weight against her shoulder. It stopped his momentum, but her small mass could not push his larger mass back far enough for comfort. He felt her teeth slice through some of the soft flesh of his stomach, shallow cuts thankfully, and he jumped to the side, so that their bodies were positioned a ‘T’. He lifted his front quarters up, his weight all upon his hind legs as he boxed at her ribs, his body coming forward with the same intent he had with the other attack — get her down.

It occurred to him that she would not be an easy victory. The female was lithe, quick, and seemed to have some experience in close combat.

She hadn't done nearly as much damage as she had hoped to the sensitive flesh, and as he leapt away from her fangs she allowed a snarl of rage to pass through her writhing sneer. She moved with him, not allowing him to face her side so easy so she could position herself head on from him, though not agile enough for him to miss. His boxing paws came in contact hard against her ribs, and it was enough to knock the breath from the female momentarily, though she moved forward, taking the advantage she had found.

The male had taken himself to stand on two legs, and quickly the female struck like a snake, her own muzzle still lowered as she came again to his right, teeth outstretched to nip the sensitive side of flesh once more though her shoulder rolled forward, intent on ramming him with it with hopefully enough force to knock him to his back, allowing her anger to fuel her.

He had resigned to the fact that he would not be able to overpower her without weakening her first. She was more formidable and tactical than she looked, and foolishly The Devil had exposed himself to the same attack she pulled last time — this time however, her teeth sank deeper and tore longer strips into his soft underside flesh. She succeeded, as well, in the second part of her attack, her force throwing the black male off his already compromised balance, and down he fell to his side. But he was quick, determined, and hastily recollected his feet.

He wasted no time in thrusting with his hind legs towards the female's face once more, looking to ram her in the jaw or head enough to give her a few seconds daze so that he could further his attack, take advantage of her momentary weakness.

He was down, and no sooner had the thought flitted across her mind did she lunge forward. Allure had been too slow, though, and as her jaws opened to form another attack, his own frame had rolled and he was back on his four paws and coming towards her, sending a blow to her face before she back peddled a few paces, her vision having gone black momentarily in a searing pain.

The world had gone black for only a few seconds, but the bi-toned female hadn't forgotten where he was located, and the she-wolf quickly pivoted to his side, not wanting him to catch her when she couldn't see him. Her eyes clearing, she snarled, her own muzzle lowering as she came once more to his right, ever persistent on harming that side and causing some heavy bleeding. Her teeth flashed towards the area between his neck and shoulder, wanting to taste his blood once again. She didn't know how the fight had exactly started, but she knew that if the black male intended to kill her, she wasn't going to go down without doing some damage of her own.

His plan worked — his attack left her momentarily weak — but she recovered just as fast as he could launch himself at her. Both of them met each other front on, her teeth slicing through flesh on his neck and shoulder on the same side she had been attack all along. He noted this now as being a cunning strategy, to cripple one's opponent on one side rather than spreading attacks, balancing them. It worked too, The Devil felt drained, it was hard for him to cope with all the damage on one side, but adrenaline kept him going.

While she chewed his neck he swung his muzzle down on hers, jaws opened and looking for a strong, fierce grab. It was getting down to the now-or-never, both opponents weakening, his strenght collapsing on his left. He wanted to wrestle her down by grabbing her muzzle, a sensitive area, and wrenching her neck around while dragging her down. He wanted to, more or less, bring her to her knees with pain.

She felt the fiends teeth close around her muzzle and a tinge of fear peaked in her heart, though her fury continued to burn. The male was much bigger than her, and there was no denying he was stronger. Rather than restrain against his new prized grip, she moved with him by going limp when she felt him swing her around roughly, her neck and shoulder muscles twisting too fast. A low hiss escaped her as her vision turned black momentarily, the male having pulled something in her petite body.

She stilled, a low and threatening growl seeping from her as she tasted the blood he had drawn across her muzzle. Her eyes burned with rage as she glared up at him, her body coiled with tension and hatred. She waited for his next move, for him to push his fangs farther to her, or to release her.. wondering if it had been a wise move to fight him back.. though she did not regret it.

At last, his attack had succeeded without fail, and the black wolf had the female where he wanted her, crippled beneath him. He held her there, waiting for her to pull some cunning move on him and continue the attack, but she didn't, it was as if she had submitted, just waiting to see what he would do next. But what she didn't know, was that he would do nothing next. After a few moments that insured him that the battle was won, he released her snout, and spryly sprung away, distancing himself before she could grab him.

He waited, though he wanted to leave now, to see if she was bent on continuing...

Her eyes followed him, narrowed in her fury as he leapt away from her, his red eyes never once leaving her form. Her lips continued to writhe back in a snarl, and while he took it as submission, the Iota knew it was far from such a thing. It had only been round one, and Allure knew she would be back for round two later.

Hatred burned within her, her small figure shaking in anger, but she didn't make to go after him. She simply allowed her message to cross to him through her eyes: this was not the end. With one final snarl, the black and white female spun leaping to the nearby forest before shrouding herself through the foliage, disappearing from view. If she were the red eyed devil, she would most certainly watch her back for the next few days very cautiously.

OUT OF CHARACTER

Good thread :P

IN CHARACTER

She left, as he had expected her too. She was a determined fighter however, and the black wolf knew that their conflict was not over now. It would resume at a later date when both were healed enough to go for another round. He too, left the area of battle, walking stiffly in the direction of Silver Creek, a sour taste in his mouth to fit his sour mood. He would not go directly to his packlands however, he would find somewhere to stop and rest his weariness, somewhere to cleanse his wounds and set them healing.
