OOC - I’d love some rainbow mood peoples, and silver creek members only - please. Especially leaders and Mars, if you can afford the time. Tiamats mood is Afraid.
It was like being stuck in some god awful time warp. The very worst kind, and upon arriving home she knew that she had to get this up in the air as soon as she could possibly manage. The advisor was not even positive that she could help this in any way, she wasn’t even sure how many of the pack members knew, but there was one thing for certain. There was a new pack in the Salvajes. Or rather, an old pack. A very old pack, and they did not seem entirely happy about the new packs. Not Silver Creek, not Nova Mountain, not Strawberry Fields, nor Mount Shadow. Her heart thumped headily in her chest, this was news. Breaking news. Like a tornado, like a hurricane. This was so important she could hardly think.
So, as she came stumbling onto the border lands – all her strength nearly gone from her body from the long exhausting trip home she came to a skittering halt. Throwing up her head she announced to the sky "News, news I have news. Come to me. Important news. She was hardly of rank to be making calls of authority, but the white wolf had decided long before this moment that breaking that rule was worth while, for this, that she would be forgiven. In any case, there was no dominance in her call, only urgency and request. She needed for this to be spread, needed the creek members to be told, and most of all, she needed them to understand that the pack, that strange pack, did not take well to those who trespassed. She only knew because she had done it. Done it again. Offended yet another wolf pack with trespassing.
On second thought. Once they heard about this, Sphinx and Den might just ring her neck. "Hurry." She urged them softly, who ever was coming to heed her words.

Crappy post, but I'm in a hurry. Sphinx'll either be concerned or angry, lol.

She had been wandering along the packs' borders, minding her own business – well, actually that was a lie. Sphinx rarely minded her own business these days. In fact, an Alpha's primary duty was to constantly mind others' business. That was how she kept tabs on everyone, right? She had been doing one of her routine border patrols, trotting easily around the outskirts of her territory to make sure nothing was out of order, when suddenly she heard a howl sound nearby. It was the voice of Tiamat, yet it was different. There was a desperation, an urgency in that howl that prompted Sphinx to drop everything she was doing and make way for Tiamat with haste.
It did not take her long to arrive, as she had run here at top speed (expecting something horrible, of course). Panting lightly, she approached Tiamat, question and curiosity in her eyes. "You called?" she spoke, her voice every bit as inquiring as the look on her face. She wanted an explanation.

Who the hell was howling just outside his den? The sound jarred his sleepy brain for a moment, and after the call faded away, it took the Guardian a moment the gather his wits. He didn't recognize the voice that had howled, but a deep breath told him who it was: Tiamat, who he had met but only informally. Rather bleary-eyes, the Guardian grumbled and hauled himself to his feet before sticking his head outside. There, not a tree's length off, stood the Iota, and Mars could hear and see the Alpha Female Sphinx rushing through the trees towards her.
At that the message of the howl became clearer, as though he were just processing it: some kind of news. Sighing, Mars pulled himself from his burrow and stretched with a yawn. He'd gone on yet another night patrol the previous evening and returned around dawn, and had been fast asleep since. That didn't mean, however, that he was pleased at the interruption.
"Whassit?" he said, or tried to say. The phrase came out as a hoarse slur. The Guardian smiled apologetically as he cleared his throat, then asked again in a slightly stronger voice. "What is it?"

Going to reply again, because this thread needs to move fast to be done before the month ends. Also because I want to use the first table I've made for myself since I can't remember when. Jump in, people that want to join - there is still room for you. Its sort of hard to write out what happens in a thread that has not actually ended yet, but I'm going to make most of this educated guessing. lol
|

They came to her fast, much more quickly than she would have guessed. This did not mean - however, that she did not have the time to notice the fact that her paw was hurting again. By the time that Sphinx arrived and Mars came wobbling out of his den on tired legs she had noticed that her paw was bleeding and was peering down at the old and now re-opened injury with distaste. It was going to take forever to get all healed up again, but that was far more than worth it for the preservation of her pack. Upon seeing Sphinx come out of the trees she jerked her head up, in a fashion that could have been described as jumpy. Those wolves, from that other place, they were eerie. They spoked her. Shaking out her fur to rid herself of the unnatural grip they held on her she then darted her attention to Mars. An apologetic sound escaped her, she had not meant to wake him.
Well, she had, but still. She was a bit sorry for interrupting his sleep. Since no more arrived immediately she spoke up. And with haste. "I found a pack." She blundered. Okay, that sounded dumb. She took a breather and a moment to think, to revise. "I found a pack that has been here longer than any of the other packs. Like they were.. Hiding or something. Down in that hole, down.. Down under the mountain. In that strange place." She couldn’t think of a way to describe it. A little shiver came down her spine. Looking from Sphinx to Mars and then back again she murmured in a low voice. "I think they’ve been watching us. I think they know about us. The one I saw, she.. Was.. Not hostile.. Just, I didn’t get the impression that she liked me. And.. She seemed unsurprised to see me, like.. Like she knew I was around. Like she knew we were around." She couldn’t shake that feeling, the feeling of being watched.

Pretty table! *Envy!* xD

One thing Sphinx had always liked about Tiamat was that she never wasted time getting right to the point. There was no dilly-dallying around it, no frills and no bullshit to "soften the effect" of the news. Nope, not with Tiamat. With Tiamat, it was right there in your face. She dropped it at your feet and if you didn't like it, well that was just how it was.
Therefore, as Tiamat shared her latest discovery with them, Sphinx was not at all surprised by the sudden blast of information that Tiamat gave them. She was, however, somewhat surprised by the information itself. Another pack? Another pack? One that had existed longer than the rest? How? How could another entire pack of wolves have existed without discovery? Without leaving even a scrap of evidence as to their residence in the Valley? Sphinx was...amazed. And the pack's close proximity to Nova Mountain...hell, they were even closer to the Novans than Silver Creek was. Sphinx was shocked that Sinistra's cronies hadn't somehow managed to sniff them out. Boy, would she love to be a fly on the wall when Sinistra found out about this.
As Tiamat finished saying her piece, Sphinx just stared, wide eyed. She knew to whom Tiamat was referring – the eerie, shadow-shrouded female with spooky silver eyes and a dark, foreboding dislike of the strangers in her lands. Sphinx had, after that sighting, thought her to be a simple play of the shadows in the trees or a figment of her over-active imagination. Those eyes, however...those cold, haunting eyes...those had been real. Somehow, they had been there.
"So...it's true, then," the white queen spoke, her voice barely above a slow, contemplative whisper. "They aren't just ghosts." She looked at Tiamat now, curious about the rest of her Advisor's encounter. She appeared relatively unscathed, save for an injury to her paw (which, since Tiamat had mentioned that the creepy wolf hadn't been hostile, she guessed the injury had come from elsewhere), and since this particularly ghostly wolf did not seem like the most overwhelming of conversationalists, Sphinx was anxious to know what had gone on. "This wolf...did she speak to you?"

Pardon Mars. xP
Mars felt a vein by his eye twitch as the news was delivered. Whereas Sphinx responded with surprise and questions about the interaction, Mars had focused on something else: the fact that there was a pack, and that they held lands near here, and had possible been around quite a while, and that Tiamat had found out by--what, trespassing? The male winced, if this were the case. Was it possible to learn about a pack without offending them?
"You went into this..." he murmured, softly, questing for the words she had used, "...hole under the mountain?" He blinked, at a loss. Which mountain? What "hole?" What... "A 'strange place?'" Of course, he would just repeat everything she said, right? "Their... territory? You went past the borders?" No matter what strange terrain there might be, Mars knew that no wolf pack would go without a border, unless they were nomads. Which seemed to mean that she had gone past a border, if she spoke with one of them.
Thoughts of some kind of feud spilt into his concious mind, and the male shivered slightly. Of course there would come such a problem just when his personal life was possibly getting to normal. And who would they send into the breach between the packs? A Guardian or Peacekeeper was the logical choice besides Alpha, and considering that Silver Creek had no Peacekeeper... Yes, that's right, send Mars into the battlezone, very good!
Not.

-dumps levi in late!-
Okay, so that whole ‘hey there’s a howl and I should go find it,’ thing wasn’t really Leviathan’s best thing. He had a hard time trying to figure out where exactly it had come from, but once he had spied out that group of wolves through the trees (more specifically, Tiamat and Sphinx for being so white), he had merrily made his little way down to the group, curious about that news that was supposed to be there. He had no idea what had already gone on when Mars seemed to pipe up with some sort of scrutinizing voice (at least in his mind) and the boy almost strayed away at the last moment, when the words ‘pack’ and ‘territory’ seemed to chime in.
He remembered going in a hole, and popping out in a pack, sort of. Leviathan’s tail wagged to and fro in a steady way of keeping track of the seconds that went on of that impromptu meeting. “I found a pack through a hole in the ground too,” he chimed in, haphazardly coming to plop down besides Mars in a rather loose, unconcerned way. Of course, then there was that overlying factor that Mars seemed a little disgruntled, and the boy’s ears folded back slightly when he looked to his father. “But only ‘cause I got lost walkin’ around,” he said. They had seemed nice enough, but maybe that was because he hadn’t been in the best of spirits, either.

*also dumps Taka late* Perfect, he can be all ashamed. =P

He had arrived to hear the latter portion of the conversation. It seemed quite fitting seeing how he had just came back from that unknown place himself. It had been a bit of a surprise when another wolf had appeared, smelling not of the four packs but of something entirely different. What he had thought of as ghosts and phantoms were actually real, breathing, living wolves. Yet they had not smelled like the wolves he was accustomed to, which in itself was a very contradicting thought, and a very odd one at that. How could wolves … not smell like wolves? He had hoped to run into someone from the Creek to discuss this very matter, and it seemed that Tiamat had beat him to the punch.
Sphinx, Mars, and Levi were already present, so he simply walked up to the gathering, hoping that his own two cents might help, though he felt extremely horrible and ashamed of himself for having gotten into this mess without realizing the existence of a whole new pack in the valley. He was a leader, and he had trespassed without an invitation. He felt like a disgrace, having caused the Creek problems rather than resolving them. Perhaps he ought to go back and bring some sort of peace offering to appease the unknown wolves.
”Yes, what they say is true. I’ve also met a wolf there in the unknown place. I feel horrible for not having caught on sooner …” He trailed off, hanging his head to gaze at the ground, not directing his gaze towards any of his packmates; Takashi felt as if he’d failed them.

Whee. Tiamat is a little upset. She doesn't like the Mars being willing to snap at her for tresspassing thing. XD
|

Tiamat turned her attention to Sphinx first, for the alpha had spoken most immediately. Her head bobbed in reply, a nod. Yes. The strange wolf had spoken to her. Uncertain, and rather nervous, she sighed. This whole situation had gone badly. "Yes. She spoke to us." Us meaning Chenke and Sebille. "Myself and two others. A Nova Mountain wolf and a Mount Shadow wolf. I.. Well. The two I was with seem to have a lack of common sense. Instead of realizing our mistake they were.. Angry. They did not react well to the female." A shiver ran down Tiamat’s spine. "And then another one came, he was.. Not very friendly either." A little bit of a frown traced Tiamat’s lips as she shifted her weight slightly.
"I did my best to correct what I could of the situation, but after the other two I’m not sure what it was worth. I told them, first, sincerely, to shut up, and then apologized to the other two. I didn’t know what else to do." It was then that Mars asked a question that pulled a little bit of a glare up from the dark eyed female. She turned her attention toward him, her expression slightly sharp. She wasn’t a fucking imbecile, if she had smelled pack borders she would have stopped but she didn’t. She hadn’t smelled a thing. "Despite popular belief I don’t actually enjoy trespassing. I didn’t smell a border, and neither did my companions." A pause, and then as Takashi and Leviathan also appeared to confess that they too had stumbled onto the lands and she felt the desire to add that she, apparently, was not the only one, but was not the type to be so petty.
"I have a theory, about their borders. I don’t think they need to mark them. They’re entirely closed in by the mountain. The tunnel that opens us to them must be new, I think it has to be. Why mark when you’re closed in by complete rock wall? And if that entrance were there before wouldn’t we all have discovered them by now? But, in all honesty, it is just a guess. It might also be that they’ve been here so long we merely don’t smell them anymore. All I can say, I guess, is that I certainly did not sense any type of border what so ever." Her frown creased deeper into her expression and she shifted her paws uneasily. Glancing from Mars, to Takashi, to Leviathan, and then finally back to Sphinx - wondering silently what her lady Alpha had to say about all of this.

Sorry about the wait, guys.

As Takashi and Leviathan also joined the small group, Sphinx regarded each with a good-natured nod and smile. As Tiamat finished her explanation, Mars reacted predictably, the Guardian obviously upset about Tiamat's trespassing. It was understandable, too. With the way things were going with Nova Mountain, they could not afford to piss off yet another pack. Sphinx fully intended to address the trespassing issue and put a stop to it in the hopes of avoiding any future troubles with them too, but first she wanted to know everything she could about what was over there.
So Tiamat had had words with a female there. The female had not been friendly. Nor had the male that accompanied her. Of course they wouldn't be friendly – Tiamat and her party were trespassers. At the thought, Sphinx nearly cringed. Tiamat had been with two others who allegedly "lacked common sense", whatever that meant. The fact that one of them was a Nova Mountain wolf said enough, though. Sphinx ventured to guess that they had shot off their mouths at the resident male and female (another inward cringe) and Tiamat had done her best to shut the two up. Obviously, since Tiamat was still alive and there wasn't an angry mob rioting for her Alpha's head, Tiamat's peacemaking effort must have worked.
The Advisor's theory on their unmarked boundaries made sense. Sphinx herself had been there once, with Bronx and Green. Indeed, there had been no obvious borderlines anywhere. It had been an eerie place and the entire time they were there, Sphinx had had the unshakeable feeling that they were being watched. There seemed to be a secretive darkness about the land, a sort of knowing whisper in the trees that spoke of something far deeper and more powerful than anything in the rest of the Valley. It had, quite frankly, spooked the Alpha, and she had not stayed with the small group long before taking her leave. Whether the same feelings were shared by Bronx, Sphinx couldn't say, but he had also left shortly as well. Something just...hadn't felt right about being there. And now she knew why.
After a moment of quiet consideration, Sphinx sighed. Looking at everyone around her, she spoke with a tone of mixed authority and worry. "Well, it is obvious now that a pack resides there," she stated, already formulating a plan in her mind for making peace with this pack for the Creek's violations of their borders. God, it was so much work keeping this pack out of trouble. "Their borders are indeed undetectable, if they are even there. I have been there myself as well and noticed nothing. However, regardless of this, do not – I repeat, do NOT – go back there again. Not even near their territory. The last thing we need is another strained relationship. Nova Mountain is headache enough as it is." She looked each wolf in the eye as she said this, because she was as serious as she could possibly be. Dire consequences would await any who trespassed there again if Sphinx found out about it.

I apologize for this terrible lateness.
Sphinx had said most everything he had intended to, and when it came to a point where Mars would've chatised Tiamat for trespassing, he merely shook his head ruefully. Somehow, he felt the implications of this were not yet fully visible. Somehow, this would come back to bite them all in the ass.
For the time being, though, he simply sighed. "Not to tell you how to do your job," he said apologetically to Sphinx, "But perhaps this calls for a pack meeting, to let everyone know about this new... pack, and the Silver Creek response to it." The Guardian inclined his head to Takashi, hoping to hear his input on it, before he glanced back at Sphinx for a moment, frowning in puzzlement.
"And... there's trouble with Nova Mountain, you said?" This, he had no news of. "I haven't had an issue with any of them trespassing here..." Yet he knew very little about the flip side of it; news of the recent hostile encounters had yet to reach his ears.
If this trouble with all these other packs and trespassing didn't stop, Mars was thiiis close to resigning from his co-rank. If it wasn't other packs trampling the Creeklands' borders, it was Creek wolves walking on other packs'. Mars felt a profound pang of sympathy just then for Sphinx and GoldenShadow's job.

... oh it was my turn, was it? :D Um. Oops.
Leviathan zoned out against the talk, finding that it was more interesting to chew on the ground than listen to the adults chatter about things that he didn't understand. But he did pick out various words and when Sphinx started talking, the puppy made himself pay attention, meeting her gaze apologetically when she took to looking at them all sternly. He felt like he had done something wrong, but she was simply telling them not to go back. He could do that, he really didn't want to visit Whisper Forest again anyway, that place gave him the creeps like cockroaches do to the author of this post.

Sorry for making you guys wait! <3

He was ready for a reprimand, and it was as close to one as he was going to get. Sphinx distinctively forbade them to venture near that area again, and all he could do was nod his head in agreement. It wasn’t something that needed to be told to him more than once; he knew that already. As a leader, he ought to have common sense and it was bad enough he was found trespassing already, even if the area had been difficult to detect marked scents – how odd that was, now that he thought back upon it. To be found disobeying orders was unimaginable. Mars was tossing out an idea that seemed reasonable enough and he nodded his head in agreement with the suggestion, finding it to be in their best interest to inform their other packmates that they ought to not intrude upon claimed territory, much as it had been done in the past when Nova Mountain was off limits to them as well. Hopefully, it would prevent any sort of future conflicts and not give the strange wolves a reason to be antagonistic towards their pack.
However, the final decision was ultimately up to Sphinx and Den, and he hoped that a decision could be reached. He would of course help out as much as he possibly could, whatever they asked of him, and he would do it to the best of his abilities. Maybe it was not too late to amend the wrongdoing and offer some sort of apology to the wolves who had chased them out in such a manner. Whatever the case, he simply was not in the mood for another conflict, especially not one with a pack that they knew literally nothing about.

Good god, lets close this. lol
Silently the female nodded in response to Sphinx, she certainly had nothing else to add to this conversation and she was quite ready to excuse herself. There were other things to be done in a day, and she found herself more than ready and willing to get on with them. Being on the brink of war was wearing on her, and more and more she found herself hating the odds that they were going to end up in a battle with someone. Sighing quietly she pushed the thoughts away, bloodshed was for another time, and perhaps they could still avoid it. Perhaps something completely unanticipated would still happen and save all their asses. "Understood." Was the brief reply to Sphinx.
For now, she was ready to be done with this, and this conversation, and as a whole – the uncomfortable thought that some strangers were lurking in their midst. At least Sphinx knew, she had no idea why Goldenshadow had not shown up to her calling and she hoped vaguely that the male was doing well at the very least. She thought to herself that he might just be caring for Artemis, getting the female back on her feet again after the sickness. "If I may be excused?" Tiamat finally requested, considering no one else had anything to say she figured they were done here.
