Sinistra's words still burned inside of his mind, blocking out almost all else. In the mean time, no one here is to go to Silver Creek, and no Silver Creek wolf is to be permitted on Nova Mountain lands… and none of you, under any circumstances, are to so much as look cross-eyed at any wolf you come upon in your travels unless you are doing so in your own defense, in fear of your own life. Word for word, it was a giant shackle upon Arsenio's very social life. He loved to meet with others; he loved to talk to others. He had many friends in Silver Creek, he did not want to shun them because of their fellows' screw ups.
Takashi, February, and even Mars — all were friends that he wasn't about to give up just because of some squabble.
Of course, he didn't want to be disrespectful, though. He didn't want to directly disobey orders. But what if... he met with some of those select friends and spoke with them, but no one else? Yes, that might work. His parents knew most of his aquaintences from the other packs, so it seemed like it would all check out in the long run.
Of course, that run was a bit longer than expected.

Ah, Ivy Hill. The last time he had been there he had run into Spina, and unfortunately Leviathan really wished that he would have run into her again. He had liked the company of the black fox, but he hadn't seen her since, but figured that she had gone back to her Neve Valley. That magical place, he had mused back then. The ivy, although covered in a slight frost for the day still made his ankles itch and his legs sting with their razor sharp edges he had learned to ignore it because if he stopped to scratch them, well then he'd be there for days, probably.
But his travels were always good, and while he was firmly on the outlook for any buses like a good little pseudo-guardian, Leviathan was also wary of Fielders in the same sense. He had met many good ones, but Nakir had tainted their appearance. Deception had been strange like Nakir, and he hadn't taken a liking for Indris because Indris hadn't wanted them there when Mars and Nakir had fought. Leviathan had promised Lasair in a way that he would also help keep her safe, and the nine month old boy had done that. He had done his job, even though it wasn't really a job.
This time, instead of finding a black fox on the mound, he found a wolf, who didn't look no more older than he did, and smelled rather familiar. That smell he associated with Ambition, and Leviathan approached the Novian with a grin and a tail wag. "Hey, nice view up here, isn't it?" Yeah, it was a really nice view, that was for sure. Leviathan liked that he could see all around him, almost from mountain range to mountain range. It wasn't the highest point in the Valley, but to him it may as well have been.

Old Lady Fate was an ironic bitch.
Of course she would have it in for our little Novian Plebeian (speaking of which, Arsenio wasn't exactly fond of the new rank changes, seeing as though he felt "demoted" in the puppy ranks) to run directly into a pup of almost his exact age and of the opposing pack. He didn't know the other at all and, by his parents' and his 'Cæsar's' warning, wasn't about to find out.
He gave the other wolf a small glance, one that he couldn't help because it was practically second-nature to the Phase kid, and then darted his gaze back outward, over the lands from his view on Ivy Hill. The cool frost of the morning shrouded his breath in fogs, and he just kept straining golden eyes outwards, trying not to acknowledge the other puppy at all.
And, for someone Arsenio's age, it was freaking hard.

Oh, no response? Well, damn. Leviathan's face screwed up for a moment, looking almost angry but more in the confused range. Maybe the wolf was deaf? Ambition had been blind, so he moved around in front of the other puppy, keeping his distance at an even space, although when it came to height (and Leviathan was well, a bit of a leviathan), he was keenly looking the other boy in the eye with a rather goofy, much too young look on his face for his age.
"Y'deaf? Can-you-read-my-lips?" he said, his question quick and his next inquiry paced and slow, trying to make the right movements with his tongue and his mouth to make it seem like he was really trying to make shapes out. His ears went jabberwocky, and Leviathan sat himself down, still wagging his poofy tail back and forth like a maniac broom. "I'm Levi, what's your name?"

Oh, God; this Creeker pup was moving right in front of him! Suddenly possessed to look cross-eyed at the stranger, just to pop that in Sinistra's face, he resisted and merely looked at the other puppy with a blank sort of look in his golden eyes. This other kid, who seemed much older than he but not so, judging from the ratio of size of his paws to his body and such, had to almost look downwards to Arsenio to give him that odd-looking glance. Arsenio, under the spotlight supposedly, almost felt like sweating.
When the other puppy — Levi, as he had soon said — kept going on talking, Arsenio actually felt his eye twitch. It was TWITCHING. Verging on a panic attack (and he wasn't quite sure why), Arsenio also had to choke down violent laughter from the hilarious view of Levi trying to "lip-speak" to him. Stuck in the middle of a sandwich between laughter and secrecy, Arsenio ended up doing only one thing — twitching his tail to show that he understood the other.
Hey, he was already looking at the other puppy, why not interact somewhat?

The tawny-haired boy saw the other's tail wiggle just a little bit, so he smiled just a little more. "Oh, you understand huh?" he said, deciding that perhaps this unknown wolf from Nova Mountain really did understand just what he was saying. "Anyway, I was sayin' when I saw you, is that, this place has a nice view, right?" His eyes flickered from the boy's tail back to his face, and then back to his tail to see what happened. He took the tail wag as a yes, and nothing as a no, even though they hadn't established anything.
Ah, well. Eventually Leviathan figured if the puppy bit his ass or something silly like that, then obviously he had hit a wrong note. "So..." the other wolf said, looking over his shoulder down at all of the ivy that arched up the hill, but seemingly went dry before it totally covered it. Leviathan figured that the frost and the chill of the morning had slowly started to kill it. Thank god, the boy also mused. "Uh, hah, I don't know what to talk about. It's hard to talk about stuff when y'can't response back," Leviathan said, realising how mean that sounded as soon as it left his mouth. "N-not that it's your fault! I mean, I've never met someone who's deaf before..." Yeah, real smooth there Leviathan.

Oh, so he was mute now. Great. Biting his lip slightly at the predicament and hating how it was turning out, Arsenio simply wagged his tail steadily at Levi's question, looking out over the cool view again. It was a good view, yes, but it did remind him that winter, and his birthday, were fast approaching. Bittersweet thoughts, seeing as though he didn't really like the thought of the cold that bristled behind his back.
His eye continued to, at intervals, twitch as he went on with the ploy of being mute (and, apparently, deaf as well) with Levi. If a Novian wandered past, he wouldn't be actually communicating, would he? Thank God for loopholes!
He found himself thinking something along the lines of Why do you even talk then? when Levi went on about not knowing what to say. Arsenio was being boring enough, why wouldn't Levi just leave him alone so he could get back home in peace?! But still, he had to play along with the part and, as Levi mentioned the last few lines, Arsenio thumped his tail violently upon the frosty ground, a pretty cross-looking look going across his juvenile face.

More of the tail wagging. Maybe that fellow had something stewing around in his brain, and that glazed over look on his eyes matched the crazy thumping of his tail. Leviathan sniffed, almost feeling as though he was going to smell something rotten and rancid loafing around on the air that was clearly from the other puppy, but alas, he smelt nothing that made him gag and require usage of a gas mask. So instead, Leviathan watched his eye twitch, and tilted his head ever so slightly to this.
"Uhm, yer eye's twitchin'," he said rather flatly, studying it as though it was going to pop up and hang by a string. But instead, perhaps in a rather awkward manner, he bumped noses with the Novian instead, as though his coal black nose was a button to make the twitching stop. "Beep." Now, he was just fucking around plain and simple, trying to see if he could make the slightly older wolf crack a smile. He had the glazed over look, and the maniac tail wag, so where was the Cheshire grin to go with it?

Yeah, thanks for pointing that out, Cap'n Obvious.
But, as the Silver Creek puppy bumped noses with Arsenio (of which Arsenio had to greatly refuse the instinct to sneeze), his eye did stop twitching randomly and, as the golden-eyed Phase boy continued to watch Levi go into his fanatic sorts of movements, he, at last, couldn't help it. A laugh bubbled up from the block he had put on his vocal cords and, after a few seconds of the laughing, he suddenly got very afraid and, thrashing his tail with impatience and dissappointment at himself, simply turned and started to bolt down the side of the Hill, in the direction of Nova Mountain.
The freezed landscape was hard to transverse, especially when flying at such high speeds. Arsenio very often escaped slipping and falling to probably another fractured limb (of which he did not want to happen again) but seemed to get down okay. Whether or not the other was following, he wasn't sure.
But he hadn't thought about Levi following and Arsenio leading him into Nova Mountain lands which, over anything else, was the pinnacle of all things Sinistra told him not to do.

Aha! So he could make noises! Leviathan just about jerked backward and lost his balance when the Novian laughed, and if it weren't for the fact that Leviathan knew if he did, he'd roll down the backside of the hill, and through all of that ivy! It wouldn't have been pleasant, and when the boy took over, so did Leviathan, but at a much slower pace at first. "Huh," the tawny-haired Creeker muttered under his breath, watching the other puppy slip and slide down the other size.
He wanted a game, did he?
Well, then he was in for a real game, because Leviathan haphazardly threw himself down the hill, barely keeping his own footing from the slick, wet places in the frost. The sun was peeking through the trees and the temperature was setting up to rise, which only meant that whatever was frosted over would be wet. Wet leaves meant a slick ride if he took it too fast — which he was. "Hey!" Leviathan hollered out after the Novian, momentarily forgetting that the boy was 'deaf' and couldn't hear him anyway.
Or could he?

Arsenio then, as he listened more intently, noticed that Levi was indeed following him and he immidiately felt those adrenaline rushes go through to his brain and, there it went, he was running off again. Hearing the Silver Creeker's cry only made him run faster (which, for Arsenio, was quite fast) and soon enough he was running through Sunflower Meadow, the tall stalks holding their large sunny bulbs towering over him.
He slowed, looking around and listening to hear if the other puppy was still pursuing him. When he heard not too much (which was hard to judge on, knowing that blood was still roaring in his ears), he settled down and began to walk much more slowly back to the Nova lands, his ears flitting back because of his disobeyment to the rules.

Teensy powerplay here. If it isn't cool, let me know.
Leviathan did an okay job of trailing the Novian down the hill, but just about lost him through the sunflowers. Even though they were wilting and clearing dying (eventually the meadow would be unobscured by them), the Creeker tore them down and went through them very much like those buses that he was probably supposed to be watching for. "Hey, slow down!" Leviathan yelled, not really sure if his deaf friend was well... deaf. He was beginning to doubt it because the other puppy had laughed. Maybe his nose was ticklish?
Eventually, the sound of trashing through the sunflowers ahead of him died down and Leviathan slowed down, wanting to listen in to figure out where that other boy might be. He stalked him cat-like, coiling his tail up over his back as not to get it wagging and whapping the hell out of everything he passed. Leviathan stepped carefully, following the smell and the destruction of the tall stalked flowers, eventually spying the other out.
With a booming kind of bark, he promptly jumped on the other puppy and rolled around aimlessly, attempting to pin him down and "beep" his nose again. Or bite it, Leviathan wasn't sure what he wanted to do more. "You ain't deaf are you," the slightly younger boy said, narrowing his eyes slightly, almost sinister-like. Pinning him down didn't seem like fun anymore, so Leviathan freed himself from the tangle of legs and feet and rose to his feet. Following that, he shook out his coat and frowned slightly. "You didn't have to run away if you didn't wanna talk. I woulda gone away if you asked." That hurt, just a little bit. He didn't being ran away from for more than one reason, but it was something that he wasn't going to dabble into.

OMGDELAY. And it's fine. :3
|
And just as he was beginning to calm down and get ready to head peacefully back home, he was down on the ground with the taller Levi pinning him down into the soft soil, performing yet another "beep" right on his nose. Arsenio once again refused to sneeze, though the want to do the simple action was almost overwhelming (he didn't know why, either!), and then flickered his ears back at the Silver Creek puppy's question, frowning and shaking his head slightly.
"No," he answered, getting up slowly as Levi removed himself from on top of him, looking at the Creeker with solemn gold eyes. Arsenio shook his own thin fur coat a bit, swiping at the tougher parts to clean with an outstretched paw. He feigned indifference, but it didn't play right. The Phase youth was hurt at the obvious pain in the other youth's voice and he then decided that he was well in enough over his head to keep up the act, so he broke it.
"And n-no, it's not that," he started off, pausing to try and see how to phrase up what had been happening. "Have you heard of the... strains between the Creek and Nova Mountain? Well, recently we've been gettin' a lot of offenses from yer pack (no offense t'you) and m'Alpha said for me to not speak t'anyone of other packs unless it was an 'mergency. So... that's why that all happened." He paused a second and then added a quick, "Sorry."

"Strains?" he asked, cupping his ears sharply. Well, this was news to him! Leviathan couldn't think of anything that the Creek had done to Nova Mountain — the only thing that came to mind was when Nakir had attacked Lasair, but that was the Creek and the Fields — and wondered why such things had been prompted. "Offensives? I ain't heard about any of it b'fore," he said, then folding back his ears apologetically.
Part of him wanted to go find his father right then and there and in that metaphoric, childish way, to tug on his sleeves and ask him what was going on. In a way, Leviathan could almost hear what Mars would probably tell him. Something along the lines that he was still a child and didn't get to hear about it. Then again, maybe it would have not been something that the guardian would have said, but Leviathan almost expected to hear that in a small way. Adults did say that to children, after all.

Pretty table. :)

He wanted to get on better terms with the Silver Creek puppy. Playing the silent treatment and running away hadn't gotten him too far, so he eventually realized to resolve this he would have to talk it out. Blinking and nodding mournfully, he replied, "Yeah. It used to be little stuffs when the pack first opened — wolves tresspassin', wolves not bein' nice to the resident pack..." weren't those the good days with the affairs between the Mountain and the Creek? "Things got much worse, though. Recently, a member of our pack was attacked by a Silver Creek wolf, for no reason."
He remebered seeing Allure at the pack meeting. Though her wounds were more of quantity than quality, she still looked very roughed up. Arsenio, on that one remembering, felt his blood boil in anger. "The wolf who attacked her was nameless, but we do know that he was black with red eyes. He's been causin' a lot of trouble with us, tresspassing and attacking. We're fed up."
He paused. "Sinistra said that if I met any Silver Creek wolf, I'd have to not talk to them. That's why I couldn't do anything. Sorry if I made you upset."

Thanks! I think it's a bit too soft, but oh well. XD
Oh, that was all? Leviathan didn't know too many black wolves with red eyes, and all he could think of was 'Jack'. And Jack had been an awkward fellow, at least. Scary, almost. "Oh," the boy said, as though he understood completely, which he sort of did, more or less. "No – it's okay. I getcha." But still, the whole thing really didn't make sense to the boy.
"If it's just a black wolf with t'red eyes, why just not talk to the black, red-eyed wolves?" he asked, clearly curious about what the Novian would say about it. Leviathan wasn't even sure if he would know in the first place, and if he didn't then perhaps there was someone who could answer him. This, Sinistra fellow that had been mentioned, which was what Leviathan guessed was the Alpha of Nova Mountain.

I like the soft-ness of it. ^^
|
Arsenio half-way understood what Levi meant when he didn't delve too far into the matter. They were just the underlings in a war between adults, just like children always were. The Phase youth wondered if the Silver Creeker knew the Mister Red-eyes, and just wasn't wanting to talk negatively on anyone in his pack. Either way, neither of the kids didn't really grasp the concept except what was spoon-fed to them by adults.
The question of the somewhat-friend set Arsenio on a little nervous edge. "Truthfully... I'm petrified to even think about even seeing him. From what he did to Allure... I-I just don't even want to think about it." He shook his head, trying to clear the thoughts from inside his brain. He paused for a second before continuing on. "Besides, what would a kid do in a war of adults?" It was a grumble more than an actual statement.

"I dunno," Leviathan said, shrugging. "I didn't know that there was a war goin' on." He had heard stories about wars before, and none of them really had happy endings. Part of him just hoped that Arsenio was just saying that it was like a war, and not really a war. The fact that his own father was a guardian told the boy that there were actual chances that Mars may have had more to do. That thought, Leviathan didn't like one bit.
But oddly enough, his anger wasn't deep seated against the Creeker that was presumed to have started it, in fact he was much too prideful to believe that it was completely the Creeker's fault, whoever they were. It was a rather scary situation, realising that in may standpoints unbeknownst to him he was talking to an enemy. "W-what do you think will happen? Is it really a war?" he asked, finding that some panic rat in his brain was smashing very much and very hard on that 'panic' button.

-gets around to all of her posts!-
It seemed that the leaders of Silver Creek were... less blunt with discussing their war terms than those of the Mountain. Remembering their meeting and the things discussed there, Arsenio had assumed that the Creek had done the same. Judging by Levi and his lack of knowledge about the standings between the packs, it was obviously not so.
"I-I don't know," the golden-eyed Medic murmured, looking down. "I hope not. I have a lot of friends in the Creek, includin' you — I don't want any of 'em to get hurt. I don't want anyone in my pack to get hurt either..." He trailed off, suddenly getting very full of emotions and words. "This place has always been so peaceful; my parents talked about it. Why's this all 'appenin' now?"
Why was it ruining the rest of his childhood?

Arsenio seemed much more distressed by the events than Leviathan. To Leviathan, fighting wasn't really anything new, especially to the gypsy boy. It was one of the fundamentals of why those stationary packs were so evil anyway. Sometimes it's just gonna happen, I think, Leviathan said, realising that he had never questioned why certain things happened. The tawny Creeker stiffened a bit and frowned. I mean, sometimes wolves just fight, right? Certainly the boy's parents had fought before, hadn't they?
But, he didn't ask about it. The only reason why he could ever remember fighting between the gypsy pack and a stationary pack was over food, or what they thought was invasion. It was never good and Leviathan didn't think that they had ever really won anything. Then again, no one had ever really told him much of anything — it was as though he had been the prodigal son for the doomed. Hawke had been the star, he had been the distraction and the thief of the show.
It seemed right to be blamed. But, I really don't know, Leviathan said, shrugging. Some odd calmness had weaved its way around the panic rat, but there was some sort of excitement there as well. But if it is true or whatever, then I guess it makes us enemies or somethin'? In an alternate reality, one could have sworn that Leviathan's eyes were attempting to glaze over in this one, but in that alternative view, they already had.

Arsenio's young life had been particularily secluded. He had never really witnessed any sort of fighting, so the thought of actual war was very foreign and frightening to him. Shifting nervously, he somewhat agreed, though he didn't want to. There were times when conflict seemed inevitable, but it didn't seem possible here. "I guess... I just didn't think it'd 'appen here, though." Tobin and Siaqi hardly fought — Arsenio was gifted with amazing parents.
The Plebeian didn't understand how the Creek puppy could be so calm. For the first time in recent pack history, there was borderline war between packs, not between creatures. The Coyote Expedition wasn't soon forgotten, nor the things predating that, but this was big.
"I guess..." Arsenio said tentatively at Leviathan's last thoughts. "I'd rather not, though. I thinks friends are better than enemies anyday."

How could Leviathan really be so calm? The reason was pretty simple: it just hadn't sunk in yet. He could clearly see that Arsenio was dismayed by the new events that were unfolding, but Leviathan hadn't hear any of that talk at Silver Creek. Not even a word about some war brewing on the horizon that was clearly Nova Mountain.
He put a paw on the other puppy's shoulder and faintly smiled. Yeah, friends are better than enemies, he spoke as though he were trying to reassure him that things were going to be fine. Nova Mountain was just overreacting, it couldn't have been a wolf from Silver Creek! They were all seemingly nice, even to Leviathan. He couldn't think of anyone would do such a thing even with the description that Arsenio gave him.
This'll probably all blow over.

We should wrap this up soon, yis? :D
Smiling to himself, Arsenio reviewed that today he had formed another friendship with someone from Silver Creek. Another bond with someone who, supposedly, said all those adults, was an enemy. The more ties he had to Silver Creek, the harder it would be to face the fact that the relationships between them and the Mountain would only go down. From what he had seen and talked about, this would eventually end, but probably not without some disputes — either verbal or physical — on down the line.
"This'll probably all blow over."
God, I hope so, Arsenio thought bleakly to himself, looking over to the looming monolith that was Nova Mountain. It looked like home to him — did it look like an enemy to some Silver Creek members? "I hope you're right, Levi," the Plebeian murmured.
It was starting to grow dark, Arsenio finally noted when he noticed the deteriorating light in the area, dissipating until the dawn of the next day. Looking with a shaky smile to his newfound friend, he said, "It looks like it's getting late — my parents'll want me back home. It was nice meetin' you, Levi!" With a friendly nudge to the other pup's shoulder, Arsenio started to bound back towards home, pausing once to wave (which looked odd when a puppy did it) before finally disappearing from view.
