The crisp, crystalline air of the winter's rage nipped across the thick fur of Tantamount, who stood rather opposingly against it, facing away from the great mountain from whence he had come. He had never quite understood the reason for his family's move from Gold Moon Forest to Nova Mountain, but there had to be something behind it. Perhaps they had gotten a premonition of the flood, but then he'd been several months before that happened, hadn't he? The stark white of his fur blended splendidly with the environment about him, so much so that unless one was looking right at the mountainous backdrop, it would probably be easy to pass him right by if he wasn't moving an inch. Well, it might've been, but he did not have silver or even pale eyes. They were the blue of Siaqi, and they betrayed his presence completely, and even the windows to his soul showed distress. His still figure was one hint towards his troubled thought, and his eyes were the other.
No longer was January 10th there, and no longer was it a big deal. He no longer just knew he was going to be an adult someday; he was one, and not just that, but he felt like it too. Now he had a voice, and could speak up at meetings if he had something to address. The chance that that would ever occur, however, remained slight, even almost inevitably gone. Tantamount felt like an adult and even looked the part now - he had grown into his large paws and ears, his body had filled out though he would always be slender and small for a boy, his tail had suddenly fluffed out overnight - but just being an adult would not change his personality. Something inside him from the moment he'd begun to mimic the older wolves, the wolves with a say, had told him that it might've changed then. When he entered the ranks, he would no longer be shy and introverted.
He had been only five or six months before he realized that would not happen. This was an obstacle he would never overcome, or at least only in short bouts. There were times now that Tantamount could overcome that shyness, but only if he was angry - something he had never gotten as a cub, he recalled, but now as a teen and an adult, with the threat of war looming overhead, was becoming more common - or if there was something really big happening. For the most part, though, the alabaster Phase was left to remain as he always had been; quiet, timid, even frightened by little things like the presence of others, but wise and intelligent.
The incidents that had occurred before the Phase birthday bash had been significant in Tantamount. While they did not relate directly to him, the indirect connection was very deep and sacred to the white male, so much so that he had even come to acknowledge hate. Hate was such a powerful word, and while he had disliked wolves before, he had neverly truly hated them. This time was different, however. He might've let it slide if it had just remained the incident with Chena, for he could understand mildly the reason for the idiot's behaviour there. Iluk had filled him in, and obviously Tantamount, while protective and very loving of his once-lost sister, could relate to the thought of trespassers.
However, the assault on Arsenio had been the last straw. Tantamount had withdrawn shortly after being delivered that information and begun to think about it, and it could only relate to the war. Obviously, the Phase family was thrown into the midst of a political war which might, one day, be resolved. Then again, with the way things were going - wolves suggesting leaving, wolves attacking for no reason, the Creek's apparent gunning for the war behind their pitiful wall of peace that they threw up to keep up some hidden masquerade - it might erupt into something else. He had joined the peacekeeping side of the negotiation, not wanting to see his home and his family put into such danger.
But, on that day, Tantamount was so overwhelmingly and bitterly angry towards the Creek that even reminding himself that his family could be in danger would not stop him from attacking a Creeker if they came along in bad will.

Sunflower Meadow was a barren place, empty and rough looking. The tall, hardened sunflowers that still stood up were crooked and bent from the weight of the snow on their backs . The flowers that had littered the ground from one point of the meadow to another were gone to his eyes, all that was left was the snow that cracked underneath his footsteps. In reality, Leviathan was having one good look around before everything else went off without a hitch and he'd be spending some time learning about a new home.
He breathed in deep and exhaled, walking on and pausing here and there to smell things, coiling his tail for no reason. It was oddly quiet in the meadow (and really, in the valley) and he felt like he was disturbing the peace with each footstep. The fact that the snow did put a little bit of a damper on the scents around him, Tantamount's form had emerged from the horizon but Leviathan didn't realise that it was him at first. The smell of the Novian had yet to cross his fine-tuned nares, but as he neared the form, it struck him.
There wouldn't be any point in masquerading the fact that the war was to ultimately come to an end. Truces would be formed, but vendettas ran deeper than any truce could hold. Well well, Leviathan said, his tone plainly sarcastic. Coming over to apologise? He figured if Tantamount hadn't wanted to make a beeline for him about something, then they could have avoided one another. In that big meadow they just had to cross paths.

He very nearly smiled to himself in that pre-encounter moment, knowing that the war with the Creek wolves was coming to an end. There would be no truces between fighting parties, though; no love for the other pack would blossom in some hearts. He, on the other hand, was willing to forgive and forget, but only for the most part. There were a couple of individuals over there, across those "sacred" boundaries, that he would never forgive. He would never forget what they had done to him and his family, would never forget their actions. There were those like Iluk, someone he considered a pretty good friend, that he was very glad he would be able to see freely and speak with regularly. There were others, like that honey-coloured little brat coming towards him, that he wasn't so glad to see.
"Unfortunately, no," he said, not even bothering to cover the evident traces of dislike in his tone. Yes, hatred was reserved for this one, and Tantamount rarely did feel so much hurt and anger for one particular wolf. "'S far as I see it, you came over here. Besides, so close to Novian territory, it doesn't seem like I was the one to go looking for your spoiled little ass." Uncharacteristically, the male turned his head away, regarding the far-off remainder of the valley. There was no point even speaking to the brat; Leviathan only had hurt to deal his family.
He would ignore, or so help him he would do everything in his power to rip the pup apart. He was not a violent creature and he was not, by nature, one to even consider such a vile concept, but this honey-coloured agouti had taunted Arsenio into a fight, and given him wounds. This little brat, spoiled beyond anything Tantamount had ever seen - or, if not, he acted like it - was the one wolf in the whole valley that Tantamount would not care to see eliminated.

Leviathan shrugged, seeing that Tantamount was just as much of a stick in the mud as he had always seemed. Suit yourself, the slightly younger boy said, not fazed by what the white-haired Novian had to say. I heard that the war is coming to an end. I'm glad that it is, he said, figuring that maybe for a shit twist he'd try and have a conversation instead of trying to snipe the slightly smaller boy over things.
But then again he also felt like there would be no guarantee that it would stay that way. Either way, Leviathan figured that he could live with it, because he knew that other things were going to be changing like crazy, unbeknownst to the Novians. He removed his eyes from Tantamount for a moment, eyeing the barren meadow again before briefly spacing out to watch a hawk make a lazy circle.
Nice day today, he murmured.

There was no love in Tantamount Jlyha-Phase for Leviathan Ostrega de Courir, but that did not mean they could not make amends. Perhaps he was the one jumping to conclusions. After all, it was very possible that Arsenio had come across Leviathan and, instead of how Tantamount had been told it went, it may've been he who bothered the honey male. However, he also recalled younger days, when the rules about Silver Creek had first been laid out at that last Novian meeting, and he remembered the days after when Arsenio had come to him and told him about a youngster that he had found a friend in. He had told Tantamount about Leviathan, and he knew his brother well; it was highly unlikely that it was his fault this had all come about.
He also, briefly, recalled the two meeting and discussing the war, and remembered that there had been trouble in the end; that a shouting match had been struck, and the two had challenged one another. It was possible that his brother had struck the first note in the series of fighting between Levi and the Phase, or perhaps it had been the Creeker all along. He, Tantamount, had not been present for either event. What he knew of the younger adolescent before him was what he had been told; Iluk had told him he was a good kid, but all that he knew of the other was that he was trouble.
Idle chatter could wait. Tantamount had problems to address first, and he was older anyways. Didn't that account for something, now?
"It is," he said, sighing just slightly in relief. Relief would come when things were entirely resolved. "But, why would you be glad?" His voice, by this time, had dropped an octave and was low, serious. Blues turned to golden-brown, seeking answers in that pool of colour. "If you were truly glad - if you had even considered this war as being seriously detrimental to both packs - then why would you take part?" Why, though, would he?
"I was stupid when we met," he said, admitting to that his flaw. "I was angry. But you, you haven't just targetted me. My whole family has suffered at your paws. My brother once told me about you, how you'd thought he was deaf and eventually coaxed him to talk to you. He remembered expressing his opinion on your aigeann, Sphinx." By now his voice had hit a crescendo, and anger had sparked in the back of his throat.
"He also remembered how you guys argued about it, how you seemed to think it was Silver Creek's problem and not our own. How can say such a thing, though? There had been casualties on both sides, and injuries and hurt pride." A moment of silence came through as Tantamount turned his eyes skyward, staring at a hawk above. "He told me that he left with some bitter words. Now, he tells me he had a fight with you. He had gone out for some peace and quiet - some goddamn rest from all the tension, and from the family, as he deserves - and he told me you wouldn't go away. You insulted him, and you insulted us. That offends not only him, Leviathan, but the whole Phase family." He didn't want to mess with the whole lot of them.
"Next, he told me that you wouldn't take it back, and so you guys got into a scuffle. This was shortly after I heard from a... reliable source that you encountered my sister, Chena, on your lands and tried to scare her off." Tantamount's brow furrowed as he stared coldly at the honey-furred male, tail lashing behind him. "She was sick, you realize that?" His voice had dropped to deadly quiet, and his eyes burned with a hatred so strong. "She was disoriented, lost, and you treated her like crap."
"How can you even tell me that you're glad it's almost over, when you've caused so much trouble for my family? Do you expect me to believe you?" The Cornicen, clearly angry, finished his little tirade and stared on with blunt, wise eyes. It was not like him to act like that, ever - he was an introverted male, very shy and very quiet - but this was his family he was talking about. This Creeker had been messing with his bloodkin.

-drowns in the text of that post.- Poor Levi, he doesn't know that Chena, Tanta, and Arsenio are siblings.
Well why wouldn't I be glad? Leviathan prompted right back when Tantamount didn't get the picture. He didn't have any taste for the war at all, he didn't like the idea of it. He had too much to lose and not enough to gain with it, so it seemed rather pointless to him. But that may as well have been the spark that ignited the bomb as he was rendered speechless by what Tantamount started to say.
The fact that the older Phase boy blathered on about everything bored Leviathan greatly, but the Creeker had the maturity and the patience to stand there and listen, albeit wavering in and out of the conversation. At some point, had he probably been able to he would have even gone as far to express his dismay at being rambled at by picking his nose. Aside from the big words that came out of the mouth of the other yearling, Leviathan came upon a big revelation out of what Tantamount said. It didn't show in his eyes but bubbling uneasily in his head and in his gut that all of these things he was describing were well, tantamount to the things that had already happened.
He honestly hadn't know that they were all siblings, and the names didn't need to have said because the way that he fluently described them were on target down to a T. Even if the stories were a little askew (this was expected), it was a surprising thing. When the Novian came to a stop, Leviathan looked skyward for a moment and sighed. Do I expect you to believe me, he said, repeating the question. His brow furrowed in mock-thought and frustration before he shrugged and squarely looked the Phase boy in the eye. Nope. I don't expect you to believe me. I'm sure you don't believe me when I say that I didn't know your sister was sick and that you're all related. I, unlike your halfwit brother never singled out your leader with angry words either.
Part of him knew that he wasn't the one speaking there. He could hear his father's voice in his head plainly. You're all a bunch of spoiled brats. Whinin' about everythin' you can't control and as soon as someone challenges you on it you fall apart. So do I expect you to believe me? Why should I? It don't really matter because either way you will blame me, an' I'll blame you. That's as plain as the sun in the sky. And it wasn't Mars he was hearing, it went past that. It went way back into the past. Things were starting to align themselves and he was figuring out what he really saw.
So get over it, you big baby.

D: Sorry, I'll try to make this a bit smaller.
"Hard for you to call him halfwitted when you're the one stating the obvious," said he with a grimace, though the words of the younger teen troubled him slightly. It was true that he would obviously take the side of his siblings - that was just the pure affection of the situation - but what Leviathan said about him not believing was only half true. While Arsenio may've had a tendency to deny all other facts, though his brother certainly was far from stupid in any way, Tantamount was far wiser in his assessment of anything. Analytical, and often too quiet to really have much of his opinion anyways. He fed off of the opinions of others and, in an affair such as that, tried to gather both sides. What with the way the honey-coloured Creeker was going on about how he was expected to believe - though rightly one could not expect him to do anything if they were younger - the words uttered was enough to make his stomach boil but, being the type that he was, he had to control it.
"Besides, answering your own questions doesn't count," he retorted sharply, frowning once more. "You cannot take the words of another. Only brats do that." He may've known as much, because he knew those that took words from one and they were the total opposite of what the other had been intending to say. For example, Tantamount probably would listen to reason, provided it actually was reason and not just foolish garbage. "I didn't expect you to know we were all siblings, but to some degree, I did expect you to see that she was sick. Only a blind fool would not realize that, and that I know you are not." Foolish, perhaps, but the Cornicen would not even begin to go so far as to call the other a fool without evidence.
"You've come to the conclusion that we're all babies," he stated simply, eyes levelled coolly on the accusatory little brat, "but you don't know any of us, save maybe my brother. You call him a baby for having his own opinion, and for caring a shred about his family. I'm sure if you had any family worth it you'd be the same, but would I - or even he - sit here and call you names?" The words were quiet, now, more to his own nature though the force behind them was totally uncharacteristic. It was driven by rage for what this kid had done to his family, for being called a spoiled brat and a baby, both of which he was not. "You've met one of us, and that's Arsenio. He does have a way of getting fussy when his opinions - or what you call "whining" - are challenged, but without knowing Chena and I you cannot properly call us all babies. Arsenio is not, Chena is not, and I certainly am not."
"The only baby I see here is you, because you're the one calling us names."

Rofl, it's okay. I'm just giving you a hard way to go! But it was good! And gasp, now perhaps the fun will begins!?! !o_O!
Here we go again, Leviathan thought, yawning. His time he didn't pay attention to what Tantamount had to say anyway. He wasn't interested anymore, and it seemed like more fun to oogle the clouds or something like that. Both of them may as well have had their feet in their mouth when it came to trying to converse, but at least this time around Leviathan could happily say that Tantamount was the talker, and he had simply listened to the best of his ability. Which, in the case that he was a baby in Tantamount's eyes was well, not very long.
But luckily for Leviathan, this time the Novian didn't take him on some long winded self-discovery path to hell and back. Instead with an inward grin, Leviathan laughed at the end of what he had to say. Okay, yeah, you've got me. I surrender, you've got me all figured out. The Creeker chortled, shaking his head. Anyway, if you're done I've got some stuff I need to do. I'm not interested in chit-chat right now so you'll just have to talk to me when I'm more interested, he said, yawning again to express his apparently boredom. Taking a step away and fully intending to march along the way he had been ahead (could that be towards the Novian Mountain?!), he tossed one last spear at Tantamount.
Tootles, kiddo.

Pain like hot fire spread from a single point between his shoulder blades and radiated outward in waves in a span of a couple of seconds. Part of him felt like crying out but all he was really able to do was draw in a violently sharp breath and his lungs screamed as though they were being struck by a thousand little knives. It was probably then that he realised how cold it really was out, all of that time that he had been breathing through a virtually dry and warm nose had been nothing compared to the pain that came through air coming in his mouth and down his throat.
Part of Leviathan felt like he should have been expecting something as low down and dirty as what Tantamount had done. He, like his brother Leviathan then decided, had possibly the most childish fighting tactics that he would ever see. Leviathan was hardly compliant to go down so easily though and despite having the white-haired Novian fixed to his backside, he staggered but did not fall. The urge for his legs to buckle was there, but it was also something that he was prepared to fight. To him, this was quite a crucial (call it life-and-death if you will) fight.
Instead of falling flat on his tawny face like Tantamount more or less did, Leviathan swayed to one side before throwing himself in another, attempting to roll mid-air enough that by the time he would impact the ground it would be Tantamount who broke his fall. Whether or not it worked like he wanted it to, all the Novian needed to do was let go, and then they didn't have to pussyfoot around the idea of fighting.

At the same moment that he landed on the younger male's back and grabbed the nape, biting deeply and even managing to chew a few times to try to coax the flesh into breaking, the world exploded into motion. He managed to square his shoulders and use his nails to get a hold on the younger wolf's flanks, but that didn't last a whole long time, since obviously the honey-furred Creeker had more experience in the field of fending off an enemy than he did. He hadn't expected to be thrown suddenly below the other male in a flying tumble to the side, and he certainly hadn't expected Levi to be so goddamn heavy. He crashed into the ground, the weight of the other adolescent bearing him against the earth and making the air rush out of his limbs in a rush. However, he rolled to the left with enough time to spare himself cracked ribs, though he was winded and had to pause a moment.
A moment was all he took, however, knowing any longer would present the opposer with a chance to take him down. Muzzle moved protectively over his throat, tail lashing in a most aggressive manner. It was entirely against his nature, against his better judgement, but he knew that the male needed to learn respect for his elders, and if this was the only way to properly win it he would do what he could. It was simply unfortunate that, while he was wise and level headed, he was not the greatest fighter in the world. Ears stood straight up, back arched suddenly as his hackles flared to life all along his shoulders and back. Even along flanks and his tail, the fur had bristled almost in a feline fashion, and his lips curled over the hidden daggers hidden below.
He did not lash out, however. For now, he did his best to appear intimidating, and given the amount of fur Tantamount had he was managing quite well to look much bigger than he really was. However, intimidation only lasted so long, and he knew for a fact that if it worked at first, he would have to make another move quickly.

With Tantamount's grasp gone from his backside Leviathan was a little more on the compliant side fight things out. Fighting was something that he didn't have much of an opinion about it, it was a bit like a double-edged sword as far as he was concerned. They didn't need to do it, but it was also a rite of passage. What good would they be if they couldn't even hold their own? His ears perked sharply as he rolled up onto his feet and he returned the threatening pose. Swinging his tail a few times tauntingly, Leviathan didn't coil it up over his back like he may have in another situation; instead he dangled it out from himself, letting the end wave ever so slightly.
Just daring the other to try and grab it. Snarling and growling aside and continuing, the tawny yearling didn't hesitate when it came to circling his Novian enemy of sorts (seeing how the war wasn't technically over), it had become more of a waiting game. Leviathan had no desire to go headstrong and make the first move any more than he had verbally, all of the actions he would make would rely firmly on what Tantamount would do. If the white-haired Cornicen decided to try and attack him, instinct said to parry.
And parry was what Leviathan would do.

Yay. Stalemate.
Tantamount resisted the temptation - natural in a species that had hunts circulating about the chase - to rush over and grab the male's tail as he went 'round and 'round, and instead allowed his poofy fur to fall back into place, though the aggressive position was still held. Cornicen glanced briefly upwards, towards the mountain looming on the near horizon, and then back to Levi, who seemed to be biding his time as Tanta was. Unfortunate, that, because neither adolescent or newly-appointed adult could do anything, for the other would base their moves off of what their aggressor did. He smirked, then, curling his own tail over his back and wiggling the tip around, mocking Leviathan with it. Perhaps the other was more headstrong than he let on, although that too seemed unlikely. In any case, if he got Leviathan going for his tail he'd have a clear shot at any of several vital spots.
However, for now they were at stalemate. The white wolf observed with curious alertness the way that Levi circled him, every last step upon the ground and every expression on the other, looking for a tensed one or even the bunching of muscles below flesh, which would be much harder. It was as possible that the Creeker was doing this to trick him into thinking he was refraining from making a first move, and instead was just bluffing. He grinned then, and, not kindly, asked, "What's the matter, scared, pup?"

Sorry this is horrifically short, I just haven't felt much like writing lately. We could also probably wind this down with them getting shiny battle scars, haha. :B
Moments passed and the only moves that either male seemed to make was nothing more than growling and circling. Leviathan felt his patience beginning to slip, but he still rested firmly on letting Tantamount make the first move. It wasn't a matter of fear; war was a game of chess. Each side made a move, and as time ticked down and on between the two sides, pawns were lost and kings were captured. So was he scared? No, Leviathan couldn't think of anything he had to fear. Quirking a brow, he only laughed. You talk too much, coward. If you're so confident of my fear, then attack me.

Sure thing. :D Tiny bit of powerplay.
in character
"None the less than you," he retorted to the simple word "coward". He wasn't making first moves without securing his position in the affair, and he knew for sure that there was no way in hell he could win on brute strength alone. The alabaster youth had to pause a moment in his thoughts, though, filtering out the sentence that Levi had given to the very barest traces: come get me. Unfortunately, he was not hasty in a matter like so, and had more than one way to beat down the defence of another. The most effective method he'd ever used, however, was lowering his own, which sounded purely foolish but often served to give him a very brief moment of surprise. He shrugged then, allowing his taut muscles to relax visibly, though not entirely; to actually allow one's alertness to slip was pure idiocy, and while he intended to make a show of "departing", he was not going to give Levi that upper hand.
"'Kay, we can say that," he murmured then, flicking his tail in a most nonchalant fashion, though his gut had writhed and knotted into something horrific. "I'm afraid I've got better things to do than to play games with you, pup." And, with that, the white boy turned in the direction of the honey-furred wolf and deftly started walking off, brushing dangerously close to the Creeker but knowing that, for that moment, he would probably be in no danger. He paused then, appearing to think, and then in a blinding second - for speed was probably his best suit in the fight - he whirled around and snapped his jaws shut right on the adolescent's ear.

Mm, another post from you and then me and I think we'll be done. :D I'll have Levi let go and run off after you reply.
Again that same white-hot pain seemed to shoot up his spine. It only got worse when Leviathan jerked away and found himself retaliating out of pure rage (or maybe it was purely based on pain) and he locked his teeth on Tantamount's muzzle, tightening his grip enough that his bottom jaw quivered from the force of bone against bone.
It hadn't really dawned on Leviathan that from the fact he had jerked away his ear had been ripped, or even more so the fact that aside from being ripped there was a chunk of it gone. All he knew was that his head and his back hurt a lot more, and the only thing he wanted to do was squeeze and break Tantamount's precious face in half.

'Kay, awesome thread. n_n
in character
He sneered and spat the ear piece out of his mouth, working his jaws a moment to try to rid himself of the horrible aftertaste, but then his teeth were slammed shut as the other male decided it was high to time to rip his face in half. A brutal whine burst from the youth, though not particularly of fright for his "beautiful" face, because it wasn't. He wasn't a girl. However, he was sure he'd make a much better looking girl than Leviathan ever would, and did to some degree value keeping his head intact. He froze then, frigid, completely still and trying not to struggle or to show weakness. He winced, though, was teeth dragged down his muzzle, and he could feel blood welling from the wound. He stayed still, though, aware that pulling away would just cause even more damage.
Then, suddenly, the white youth slammed his body forward, unintentionally driving Leviathan's teeth further into his muzzle but willing to sacrifice that to get the honey-furred wolf off of him. He snarled, furious, and continued to shove in such a fashion, hoping he might catch the other in such a way to flip him over and expose that oh-so-vulnerable throat.

Tantamount's charge despite Leviathan's tightening grip on his muzzle was enough to knock the taller boy down. While he didn't totally let go, his grip faltered and he was unable to relinquish his grasp on the white-haired Novian. But that was when Leviathan took the time to get away again. With both of them bleeding and the landscape around them in dismay and a mess, the first thing Leviathan wanted to do was get a hold on everything going on around him.
But instead of fighting again, he decided that it would have probably been in his best interest to retreat. Snarling as he made his way from Tantamount as though he was going to start circling him again he made a lazy half circle around the Novian before easing into a growl and leaving the scene when he felt he was well out of reach to be caught so easily as he receded into a nearby treeline.
